Chit-Chat / Google Play Store to start supporting indies more?
« on: February 29, 2016, 08:20:15 am »
As most people will be aware currently Apple are miles ahead of Google Play when it comes to actually taking any notice of indie developers. Apple tend to feature them a lot more.

But Google Play have just started a new curated section called 'Indie Corner'. I can see it from the home of Google Play on my device but not sure if thats the same for everyone. If not the section is here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/collection/promotion_3001ed4_indie_corner

Fingers crossed the Big G is starting to show more love to us small guys  8)

Fixed Bugs (3.x) / Problem with sound uploads in b8988?
« on: February 04, 2016, 02:52:21 am »
Im having problems uploading sounds on both my PC installation of Stencyl and on Mac. Ive tried it with different sounds, and in different games, and the same thing happens.

On PC, I can upload MP3 files no problem, but with OGGs it comes up with the 'unexpected problem' box.

Logs attached for PC.

On Mac I cant upload either MP3 or OGG. And when I try to not only does the 'unexpected problem' box popup it also freezes Stencyl. So I then have to use 'Command Q' to close it down and restart it.

Although I tried different sounds Ive also attached the sound files in case anyone wishes to try replicating the problem.

Ask a Question / Detect if headphones connected
« on: January 18, 2016, 09:05:59 am »
I would like to recommend in my game people use headphones. But only when the device doesnt currently have headphones plugged in.

Users on StackOverflow say and elsewhere online say to use "AudioManager.isWiredHeadsetOn()".

And Ive found Android documentation for it here: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/media/AudioManager.html#ACTION_HEADSET_PLUG

But I cant work out how to do it using the code block in Stencyl. If any far more clever people than me know how I can do this it be appreciated.

Thanks.

Ask a Question / File to change default tile size for new scene?
« on: October 12, 2015, 01:49:18 am »
The screen size I set my game at isn't divisible by 32. This means every time I create a new scene I have to change the tile sizes to 10x10 and also change the scene width and height.

Does anybody know if their is a file in my Stencyl installation where I can edit the default values for when I create a new scene? I simply want to adjust it from 32x32 to 10x10 so every time I create a new scene it is already 10x10 and I dont have to edit it every single time.

Many thanks  :)

Using the 'get width for...using current font' block with a scene attribute (type: number) it now causes an error, I have attached a couple of screenshots.

It works fine using a game attribute, but not with a scene attribute.

Cant recall this being a problem in the past. Only a minor issue but a fix would save having to bodge it :)

Ludum Dare 33 / Lifes Decisions
« on: August 26, 2015, 02:33:28 am »
Hey all, I entered my game in to the jam, called 'Lifes Decisions'.

It is a story based game designed to target real life emotions. I decided to use the theme of 'you are the monster' to think about how people can be monsters, and do people realize even honest people have to make decisions that negatively affect others and cause harm. So does that mean you are the monster too, or just part of the game of life?

A few people have already left nice comments on my submission, any more honest reviews are welcome.

You can play the game in the stencyl arcade: http://www.stencyl.com/game/play/31944

I really enjoyed using Stencyl to make it. I will now go thru everybody elses submissions and leave some reviews  :)

Resolved Questions / Corrupt error
« on: January 31, 2015, 05:53:11 am »
I was working on a game when I ran into problems. Now when I try to load it an error message comes up saying 'corrupt/incomplete resource listing'.

I havent attached the game folder because it is 11,000KB so is too big to be an attachment. But I have attached the logs.

Can someone please offer me support with this? It would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Chris.
