How do I adjust the collision box for each animation frame? I have a running character and there is a frame where the character is off the ground

Hi,

I'm creating a looping ground for the character to run on. Able to make the ground loop, but character gets pushed back after a while. How do I solve it? The group for the ground is under Tiles and I make Player collides with Tiles and vice versa.

Ask a Question / Unlocking achievement under more than 1 condition

Hi,

I'm able to unlock an achievement under 1 condition, but when it's 2 or more, it doesn't work properly.
In fact, what I've done is actually workable, but it doesn't save the achievement being unlocked.

The scenario is:
When player unlocks the achievement in 1st attempt and immediately restarts the game after gameover instead of going back to Home, and player fails to meet the achievement in the 2nd attempt, the achievement will remain unlocked.

This doesn't happen to my 1 condition achievement. It saves the unlocked achievement as long as the criteria has been met once.
I can't find any tutorials or threads that is similar to mine in terms of it not saving after meeting criteria once.
What's wrong and how do I get my 2 or more conditions to work?

Hi,

I'm trying to make my character change from a locked to unlock frames when bought or a score is reached.

How do I make it Do after 1s, change frame when the character selection screen is created?

I tried to make it change to frame for Actor of type with name when scene is created. But I can't fit the block in.

Hi,
My game is still in development, but I just tried signing up an account under Apple first.
I was signing up for the developer program under Apple and was asked if I'm publishing my game as an individual or company.

If it's an individual, then it'll be published under my account name, and if it's company, then I'll have to provide my company ID, registration number and details (or something like that).

If me and my friend are just indie developers, are we required to register a company or developer name? Because we wanna start a small indie development team.

And how do we check if the game we are making does not infringe copyright? It will really be a pain if we were to receive a lawsuit.

And last of all, if we need to register, which one will benefit indie developers more, Sole Proprietor or Private Limited?

Ask a Question / True/False statement to create and kill actors

Hi,

I'm trying to create a True and False event. When I click on the Next button, it'll set Next to True, then create 2nd character and a Back button. If Back button is pressed, set Next to False, then create 1st character and a Next button. I also set a Kill self if the statement is True or False.

I'm basically trying to create a scene where I have say 9 characters, then if you click Next, it'll kill the current 9 and display another 9, vice versa.

Right now I can't seem to get my Next button to work. Previously I almost had it but the Back button didn't appear.

I have attached the file.

Resolved Questions / Extensions don't appear in Stencyl

Hi,

I've tried downloading the Simple Share extension and I followed the steps to install. I didn't Extract the .zip file that I downloaded.
I opened Stencyl and under Extension, I click Install Extension. Then I closed and open Stencyl again. The Simple Share was there, enabled. I then tried to create the FB share event, but I can't find the Share Message block as shown in the thread.

I tried to re-enable and reopen Stencyl, but to no avail. Under the list of blocks contain Actor, Flow, Input, etc, the Extensions part is blank.

What could I have done wrong?

How do I change the frame of an actor and have it remain the same frame when I change scenes and go back to it again?

I'm trying to make a Mute button and when I change scene, the frame of the actor goes back to the initial one.

Ask a Question / Graphics not sharp when imported

Hi,

I've been exporting my graphics at 4x and importing it into Stencyl. The file format is .png.
Created it based on the 1980x1280 ratio, then have it import at 4x to suit the mobile dimension (480x320).

I use Adobe Illustrator to export my vectored graphics. When I view the graphics using Preview or other Image software, the image is sharp and clear. But its no longer sharp when I imported it into Stencyl. I tried the No Smoothing, Bilinear and Bicubic functions. But it's all the same results. I'll try and upload a screenshot of the same graphic when displayed on my mobile.

Can I ask, what kind of settings do you use in your graphic software and also the import settings in Stencyl? Do I have to export using another format instead of png?

I'm trying to improve on my graphics by importing  higher res images. Initially I use No Smoothing, but I would like to know the differences between the other 2 options in the dropdown menu. I tried searching for it in Stencylpedia, but got no matches found.

And how do I ensure that whatever dimensions I set in my 480x320, has the exact replica, just blown up bigger when I import to a larger screen device?

I read about the different scaling modes, and tried it all, but there are disadvantages as indicated in Stencylpedia.

Hi,

I tried the Android (platform) Test Game and now able to test it on my mobile. But the game is very laggy.

It doesn't lag when I test it using my desktop and my game isn't heavy on graphics or code.
I also read Stenclpedia about Optimizing Performance and made sure my game is following the tips on optimizing performance.

What's wrong with it?

How do I code for the player to Tap the screen to click? Or do I have to purchase the studio pack for this function to be enabled?
