Resolved Questions / Forums - Auto Subscribe

Would be nice to auto subscribe to any topic we create in Stencyl forums.

A lot of times the post gets moved and replied too, but i have no idea. I try my best to check mark the auto subscribe, but do forget sometimes.

So finally got my iPad game built - yipee... However some issues

150MB IPA (For comparision my APK is around 45MB)

Open to thoughts and suggestions.

While i was waiting for the Windows 8 SDK to download i was looking at Porting the Android APK app to BB as it looked simple. Seems like they just wrap the APK and sign it.

However it failed some compatibality check. Attaching a Screen Shot.

I will try it via HTML next as it seems doable.

Combine Games to Make Mega Pack - If i have made 5 different projects, would be cool to:

1. Combine them and make a 5 in 1 Pack
2. Make one app with in app purchase to buy and unlock the other apps or some kind of subscription with an on demand download.

Duplicate Entire Folders w/ Actors - This can be done for individual actors. Would be cool for a mass duplicate too.

Actor Behavior - Mute Button - Does not work in Android. Sound keeps playing even though the animation is showing mute.

1. For Flash Games, my game size is around 6MB with only one level, level map and achievements. I played around a bit and it seems that my Background JPEGS which were 300kb were converted to 2.5 MB PNG files. Is there any way for it use JPEGS for the same? Or is there some other issue with that i am not aware about.

Also i am not sure if i import my game graphics at 4x and export at 2x which set of graphics it was using.

2. I have published my games in the past to Google Market, Nook, Amazon app stores. They will all take a .apk with no special requirements. However games need these features for Nook n Amazon:

a. When a user clicks the back button on the mobile. It must ask them if they wish to exit and then close the app.

b. Not require un-necessary permessions. Like when installing the app it says the app needs internet access. However if the game does not use the internet, it should not ask for that permission.

Other than that everything seems perfect so far. Hope to finish my first game early next week. Only thing left is testing persistent data saving for level map, leaderboard and achievements.

2MB Image (1 BG and 1 Actor) creates 12MB SWF and 14MB APK - Barely 2 building blocks and no physics.

APK can be gotten away with. However the SWF should ideally be around 5MB. Not sure what the extra file size is for. Could it be different resolution images?

Another thing of note, when we created games in Adobe Flash Pro - resizing the browser auto resized the game. This does not happen in Stencyl SWF Files.

Resize/Fullscreen Option for SWF/HTML5 would be great.

Since i am building my game with native graphics of 1920x1280 it does not play well on 1920x1080 which is standard pc resolution. Also most Flash / HTML 5 games should not be more than 800x600.

So the same resize option that is used in mobile platforms if used here, would be great.

Get x-y co-ordinates of random actor alive in scene that has not been placed in the scene at start of the game, but created later on dynamically.

Any idea how?


When you hit Play - It will go direct to Level Completed - This is because none of the actors are created and it thinks level is complete.

However if play the game in Flash Player - It will work. It also works in Stencyl.

Do help. I am quite baffled.

I am using: "When actor of type is killed"

I want to do something like get "x" and "y" of killed actor to replace. Or if there is an easier way to replace that actor at same location.


Ask a Question / Hidden Object Games - Questions

Hello there,

First i would like to say great job here. I am trying to build an hidden object game, and if it works i shall buy the engine. What seals the deal for me is iOS support without a mac.

Alrite, so i have started building a game and ran into a few snags:

1. To shitch between scenes i created buttons as actors and gave them Behaviors of Switch Scene Button and Three State Button. The Switch Scene button works, but i cannot get the button to change on mouse hover. Any suggestions?

2. Same problem as above but for mute sound. Cannot get a middle hover button for both states?

3. Lastly since this is a Hidden Object Game - I have around 50 images on screen. 25 objects and 25 outlines to help find. Now i have kept all of them as actors, disabled motion, physics etc. However i have crazy lag in moving the mouse pointer. What can i do differently to help eliminate the lag.
