Chit-Chat / Re: Debug

Perhaps the Udemy course is referring to the old debug console that was built in to the Flash-based engine, which was opened with the tilde key.

Instead, try opening the "Log Viewer" to see messages, or use this extension to get a similar in-game console. See the "usage notes" section and block descriptions if you decide to use the extension.

You may be able to build successfully if you delete C:\Users\CJ\AppData\Roaming\Stencyl\stencylworks\games-generated\Chomper\Export\html5 first. If that works, you'll probably need to do so before every time you publish with those settings.

Hard to estimate when the next public release will be, unfortunately. It's in the midst of some pretty significant changes.

Publishing to html5 packs the assets by default, but only with the new 4.1.0 features, which aren't available in the public releases.

To do this yourself in the latest public version of Stencyl, add this to "Settings > Advanced > OpenFL Settings". You can replace gzip with pak if you want.

Code: [Select]
<section if="html5">
<library name="default" type="gzip" if="publishing" />

I don't recall off-hand if that's expected to work with no other changes. If it doesn't work just like that, you'll either want to subscribe for access to the private builds, or just wait for the public release of 4.1.0.

Maybe try searching through the files in the Stencyl install for files that have " 2.", " 3.", " 4.", etc. (a space followed by a number followed by a dot) in their name?

Here's a 2-liner that you can copy and paste directly into a terminal to find any such file.

Code: [Select]
cd "/Users/ChaseGilbertson 1 2/Desktop/Stencyl-b10658-mac"
find . -type f -regex '^.* [1-9]\..*$'

Code: [Select]
[haxelib] [string/app_id] /Users/[username]/stencylworks/games-generated/RashyRabbit/Export/android/bin/deps/google/res/values/ids 2.xml [string/app_id] /Users/[username]/stencylworks/games-generated/RashyRabbit/Export/android/bin/deps/google/res/values/ids 3.xml [string/app_id] /Users/[username]/stencylworks/games-generated/RashyRabbit/Export/android/bin/deps/google/res/values/ids.xml: Resource and asset merger: Duplicate resources
[haxelib] [string/app_id] /Users/[username]/stencylworks/games-generated/RashyRabbit/Export/android/bin/deps/google/res/values/ids 2.xml [string/app_id] /Users/[username]/stencylworks/games-generated/RashyRabbit/Export/android/bin/deps/google/res/values/ids 3.xml [string/app_id] /Users/[username]/stencylworks/games-generated/RashyRabbit/Export/android/bin/deps/google/res/values/ids.xml: Resource and asset merger: Duplicate resources

The error is different, but it looks like the cause is very similar. Three duplicate files next to each other, 2 of which probably shouldn't exist.

In /Users/[username]/stencylworks/games-generated/RashyRabbit/Export/android/bin/deps/google/res/values/, it looks like there's id.xml, id 2.xml, and id 3.xml. I'm not sure if this is something that's possible depending on which engine extensions you're using. Do you have software on your computer that might be causing files to be duplicated with new sequentially numbered names like this?

The file name is current "IInAppBillingService 2.aidl". It's supposed to be "IInAppBillingService.aidl" (without the 2). I have no idea how that 2 got there.

Does it have a 2 in the original filename?

Code: [Select]
[Stencyl install]\plaf\haxe\extensions\purchases\dependencies\android\src\com\android\vending\billing\IInAppBillingService.aidl

Ask a Question / Re: How reliable are Shaders on Mobile?

Perhaps avoiding shaders made sense back when they were first introduced. Probably not so much anymore, unless you want to support really low-end devices and find them to decrease performance.

The adoptopenjdk path you provided didn't work because of the "\bin" part at the end.

Checks File > Preferences > Tools and see if SDK, NDK, and JDK are all set.

You've hit this issue, which was fixed in b10616. You can build your game with a more recent version of Xcode, or update Stencyl.

Please post more of the surrounding logs. That line alone isn't enough to see what the problem is.

Does the error happen if you try testing again?

Ask a Question / Re: stencyl on chromebook.

You can't normally run Stencyl on a Chromebook. The only way is if the Chromebook has Linux app support enabled, and not all Chromebooks have that capability. Try searching for guides for Linux apps on Chromebooks. I can't recommend a guide myself since I don't have a Chromebook and can't verify the accuracy of any guide.
