Ask a Question / nothing was ever saved?

Hey all!
So this is a first timer for me.
The past 2 hours I spend on building a behavior but since there would be nothing visually happening, I never had to test the game (I did save the project every 15 minutes tho). So after 2 hours I finaly had everything done, added the behavior to the scene, hit the start button, and..... nothing happened in my game. So I trew a couple of print blocks in there to make sure the code is being executed, but nothing was shown. I double checked if the behavior was attached to the only scene I have have atm, so that wasnt the issue.

I closed stencyl, made sure it saved before closing, restarted stencyl and then saw that not even the slightest piece of code has been saved. All my behaviors are there, but they are all empty, execpt for some simple input statements in the always event.

So... Yay for loosing lots of work.

Anyone had this before?

Hey all!
(I really need a new way of opening a thread haha)
As some of you know, I am working on a community where startup Game Developers can come by with the most basic questions from "Where to start" and "What engine should I learn", to the more complex-ish questions like "How to setup add extenions" etc. (Not just Stencyl related btw!)

My question to you guys is what would you like to see on our pages and websites?
- Quality free resources?
- Tips and tricks?
- Reviews?
- etc...

I would like to have some input from you guys so we can impove our services when we go live with our official website. So make sure to drop all kinds of idea's down here!

On another note, how many of you would like to see a new Dialog Box behavior tutorial? I have been working on a new one for about 2 days now, and if there is enough intrest, I might turn it into a tutorial =)


Resolved Questions / Max scaling doesn't work?

Hey all!
I figured for my next project It wouldn't make sense to have multiple scale factors since all my art is pixelated.  So I set the max scaling to 1 for both platforms, however it keeps creating the 1,5 2 and 4 times scaled assets when I import an asset with 1x scaling. This means it is not really doing what it should do right? Any idea's how to solve this?

Hey guys!
As some of you know, I am setting up a big community where even the least experienced people can come to to start their journey as a game developer. At the moment I am recording several video's for different engines to show their pros, cons, user friendliness and capabilities. For the capabilities I would like to show different kind of games/apps made with Stencyl.

So if you have a game you would like to see in my video about Stencyl, please drop me a message on this thread, and I will set up a quick form where you declare I am allowed to record gameplay from your game (due to the new YouTube policy).

Obviously your name, facebook, twitter or whatsoever will be displayed as well =)
I can't wait to see what you guys have to show!

Hii guys.
As some of you guys know, I am working on another touch controller clone, however this is bug is really getting on my nerves now.
I think I spend 75% of my time trying to get my app work again. And when it finally does, I change one small statement, and I have to re-export the game about 5-7 times with all different kinds of things to try ranging from deleting my scene, and recreate it (for my just one actor), removing and re adding the behavior to an actor in the scene editor, changing scale modes, etc.. etc..

So just make this more of a learning kind of thing for the dev's here, is there any procedure you would like me to try everytime this happens?

Hey guys.
As some of you knew, I was about to do a 24 game jam with Stencyl with the input of the community. However mother nature decided to pull a prank on me and I basically have been sick for about a week now. So instead of still using only the input from you guys I already came up with a basic idea which I will improvise on as I go. If you guys want to be notified in time when I start streaming, you can either subscribe to this thread, or follow me on Twitter (click button below).

I am looking forward to this, so I hope you guys are as well =)

Hey guys, long time no see!
So it's almost that time of the year where people have gifts for the people who mean something for them, and that is pretty much the reason I came up with this surprise for all of you!

Some of you know that I started a YouTube channel for tutorials in the Stencyl engine, and because of that I got some offers from bigger teams which ended up in me getting a place in a cool project in Unity =)
(hence my absence lately on the Stencyl forums tho =/ )

So if it wasn't for the Stencyl community, I would have never got that place.
In return I want to do a 24h gamejam, which I will be streaming on my Twitch account, and off course upload it to YouTube afterwards. However, I need some input from you =D

The only limitations I give are:
* No high ends graphics, unless there is someone who wants to be doing the graphics for me haha (i'm no artist =p )
* It has to be doable in 24 hours
* Simple controls. I want to port the final product to mobile after the original game is done =)

So, post some ideas here and I will pick some of them to put in a quick GDD and you will be hearing from me shortly after when I will start doing this stream =)

Hey guys,
For some reason i cant upload working resource packs anymore.
I tried exporting them to my pc, import them back in a new project and upload it, but i keep receiving messages the download will not work.

Can any of you guide me trough a process of finding a solution?

Ask a Question / Enabling behaviors

Hey all.
So I have a basic setup where when the player "dies" it should enable a behavior. However this never works.
I double checked the name of the behavior and added a print block in the when created event of the to be enabled behavior.
Is there anything basic I overlooked?

Hey all.
I have been wondering this for a while now.
Performance wise, would it be better to have 1 multidimensional GA list, or having multiple separate GA list attributes?


P.s. im currently recording a Dialog system tutorial, together with a Player name enter system using dynamic animated dialog boxes =)

Since even after the hype has ended I still see allot of questions related to Flappy Bird's mechanics, I do wonder if people would be interested if I would create a 60 minute in depth tutorial on a Flappy Bird clone, even tho thre are already a couple of these tuts around.

Ask a Question / "When any key is pressed" executes multiple frames.

Hey all,
So I have been trying to use the "When any key is pressed/released" event, however it isn't doing exactly what you would expect it would. As the name suggests, I would say it fires only the frame that you actually press or release a key, just like the "When[control} is pressed" block. To bad this isn't the case. When I hold down a key, it will fire the event multiple times, which is kinda getting annoying since there is no easy workaround for it for my part.2 of the custom control mapping tutorial. ( which I hope to get it done before this evening).

So is this a known bug?
