That's great. Stencyl team keep churning out great stuff for the community. It's good to see they are putting effort and features into both web and mobile front.

I've that nauseating feeling of post holiday rush to the store again come this thursday:)

Seriously anyone here has any prior knowledge how to publish your game to appstore. You see we have the game-making side of things. However, there is the other side of setting the whole process up that lead to final publishing. It's definitely not trivial as I understand. If you know how to, you definitely have a leg up on rest of us.

Great news. If I understand correctly, I get 2 months free anyway if I buy before end of year. So we have a 3 week window to catch that deal.

Ask a Question / Video game piracy

Not that of any of my upcoming games are unique but I do like to protect my games from being published to other sites without my approval.

The current stencyl publication method is either via Forge or publishing to stencyl/others sites via through swf.

Do we have some basic mechanism to protect our game ip such as site lock? How do we do this?

I think you should post this when all the serious player start coming in with launch of istencyl and the product start to take off at that point or if at all. I would not mind paying for something if my istencyl game can support the cost.

I would love to see some games build out with stencyl and some sample docs when they come out.

An arcade is an interesting thought but you have to have good games.

As for customers, I think you will find plenty when istencyl and their educator sector pick up. All these are in their infant stages as you know.

Love your website and your blog. Do you have a youtube sample of arch fiery.

I would like to see a digital version since I expect things to move fast with flash and mobile front development in stencylworks and we need to see continuous update. This is pretty much what previous poster mentioned.

I would also like to see more IOS related info not necessarily just tied to stencylworks but tips and tricks about publishing to mobile world (I've used GS forum occasionally for tips).

Another concern is, not to be impolite, we've not seen your name much with stencyl forum/community and also have not seen a stencyl game made by you. How can we trust that a relevant and quality stencylworks book can be made here?

In general, though,  I like your work and art design and think you have a great future in this area. Just not proven yet with stencyl.

Simplest way is to make pieces of tileset as actors of certain groups although it may degrade fps a little.

Ask a Question / Re: How can you convert wavs to mp3s?
« on: August 31, 2011, 06:07:45 pm »
I can't thank you enough for help on this one. I went down to windows\systems32 and noticed that lame file is already there. So this time I point audacity to this copy rather than the one in program files and it worked magically. I can finally dump out mp3 which has been a great obstacle for me.

Thanks for the great tips, Mr Z.

Help needed from someone here since I've been struggling on this for a while. I used the above synthsizer site to create a wav. Worked great. Now I drag the wav clip into audacity and try to export to mp3. It required lame_enc.dll. I do have it in another folder. The filename is lame_enc and filetype is Only lame_enc.dll. Once I click OK, it says "Could not open MP3 encoding library". With that, I cannot create any mp3 file using Audacity. Any tips from anyone?

For testing, you can do control-shift-tilde(~) key for windows. Not sure this is what you want.

I followed both of your instructions and downloaded the lame.dll file. However, when I try to export my sound file as mp3 and point to the lame file during export and click OK, it says "Cannot find mp3 export library". Any clue? So I cannot dump out my mp3 file.

Thanks man, You are sure this site is reputable? I downloaded one from some unknown site last time and it cleaned up (or shall I say wiped out) my whole computer.

Archives / Re: Mass Scene Behaviors?
« on: August 23, 2011, 02:25:59 pm »
It's not exactly what you wanted but we all noted that in a game a lot of scenes would share the same set of behaviors.

The best workaround is that once your primary scene is done with all the scene behaviors such as title, background music, switching etc, just go the game center scene tab and right click on the primary scene and pick duplicate. You'll see a Copy of Primary Scene created. Then go into this copy and go to properties tab and change the scene name to scene whatever. Then you can proceed to change any of the scene attributes in this second scene. This is kinda of a workaround to save you some typing and asset management.

The above also applies to Actor. You can duplicate it multiple times if they happen to share a lot of similar behaviors.
