Ask a Question / Android APK Publish Error
« on: June 07, 2015, 04:34:29 pm »
Hey guys,

I'm running into a build failure. Against my better judgement I updated to Yosemite today and of course now nothing is working.

I am trying to publish for Android and it keeps failing. I was prompted to download JDK 8 and I see that older forum posts say to go with JPK 6. It seems that version is no longer available and I'm hoping that the latest build of Stencyl 3.3 fixed the need for JDK6. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Log is attached.

Game Art / Original 8-Bit Music
« on: May 10, 2015, 01:10:32 pm »
Hey folks!

I am in the process of uploading a bunch of original 8-bit music to my Sound Cloud account (https://soundcloud.com/thunder_child) and wanted to share it with you in case anyone needs music for their games :)

Most of my stuff is written with a Megaman frame of mind but it is not limited to that. Pretty much every song on my Sound Cloud was intended to be looped indefinitely but I arranged them to have more of a song form so I could potentially perform them live with a band. Some songs could easily be chopped into 2 or 3 "levels" and have those parts looped instead of using the whole song. Splitting songs like this could also help with keeping a consistent sound and feel to the game.

Please reach out to me via PM if you are interested in any of the songs or would like me to try to write something with the right feel for your game. At this point, I'm mainly interested in getting my name in the credits of the next big game so I am open to discussing mutually beneficial agreements for use of my music.

Thanks!
-KJ

iPhone / iPad / Android / Brake Down- FREE for iOS
« on: April 18, 2014, 05:22:01 am »
Hey everyone!

I've been writing some video game music for a while just for fun. I've been studying the classics and trying to stay in the constraints of classic 8-bit technology.

After a while, I decided I'd like my music featured in an actual game.. and then I decided if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself.. so I made my own app featuring one of my songs using Stencyl!

Please check it out and let me know what you think -the app is free and for iOS only now but I will release it for Android soon.

Thanks in advance!

Ask a Question / problem with ogg music and iphone simulator
« on: March 10, 2014, 05:47:31 pm »
Hey guys, I'm new at this so I'm guess I'm missing something completely obvious here.

I went through hell trying to figure out how to get the iPhone simulator to work without realizing I needed to download Xcode. Now that I have that, the generator will launch and it seems to be working right.. however, as soon as I add music, it won't work.

This is what I'm running into:

Now, the behavior:SceneEvents_1 it's referring to is the "when created->loop music (ogg file)" that I put in the title screen so it will play continuously throughout the game. I have a sneaking suspicious I did something wrong with the ogg file though.

When I go to load new sounds into Stencyl, I can drag and drop the MP3s (or click to import) but with the ogg files, I can only import them by clicking the import button. I can't drag and drop them into Stencyl.. which makes me think there's something funky with either my Mac settings or the ogg file itself.

Thanks in advance :)

EDIT: I figured it out! Apparently it was something wrong with the converted ogg file I had. I tried exporting the file with Audacity and now it's working. Very weird.
