Teaching with Stencyl / Re: Discuss: Educator's Kit
« on: November 02, 2021, 01:21:18 pm »
I've updated the entire kit once more, this time to align the language and screenshots with Stencyl 4.0.x/4.1.x and fix up some inconsistencies/typos.

I personally ran through the kit myself to make sure it runs on the current version of the software, out of the box.

If something's not working, let us know here.

As before, the kit can be found at: https://www.stencyl.com/teach/

Ask a Question / Re: create new forums with discourse
« on: September 02, 2021, 10:51:25 pm »
I wanted to address this since it's come up a few times this summer. Although I like using Discourse as an end user on some hobby forums, we have no plans to switch forum systems.

It wouldn't gain us much, especially at a time when the vast majority of community activity has moved over to Discord. We'd also lose the issue tracker and all of the current posts.

We're working on transitioning the site over to https as has been much requested. It's not a simple flick of the switch, but we're close to finishing that.

This turned out to be an issue on Paypal's end. In any case, it's now taken care of. Thanks!

Ask a Question / Re: I want to buy Stencyl.

Sorry about this. Our e-mail address, which is already hidden from direct publication for years has been hammered by spam bots. That's fine in itself, but legitimate e-mails have also been flagged as spam, making it really difficult to locate them. Strangely, sending a follow up e-mail seems to not trigger the spam filter.

As for the issue raised, it's now been fixed.

I'm also curious to hear what this "combination" of Unreal and Stencyl entails.

A small but noticeable number of Mac users are unable to open our DMG installer for Mac. The Mac presents a "no mountable file system" error when the user attempts to open the DMG for installation.

Each time we try to follow up (these reports come via e-mail), we don't hear back but would like to get to the bottom of this. We aren't able to reproduce the problem on our end.

1) If you are encountering this issue, please follow step (3) on this page, let us know what you see in Terminal, so we can have a closer look at this.

2) Let us know what version of OS X you're on.

Thanks!

The link for Stencyl 3.4.0 (b9300) for MAC is broken.
Can it be fixed?
Thanks!

Sorry about this. We've fixed this up.

Stencyl is still being developed. Their focus at the moment is working out bugs before adding new functions, and with the announcement that adobe will pull the plug on Flash, they are working hard at implementing a stable html5 export function.

Stencyl 3.5 is our focus, and as we've said before, Stencyl is still actively in development. As others have already said, 3.5 folds in a huge underlying technology upgrade that brings in proper HTML5 support and modernizes the graphics pipeline for mobile and desktop.

Unfortunately, as with any major "pipes" upgrade, it comes with issues that have proven to be a bit trickier to work on than we anticipated. We plan to put 3.5 out this fall.

(I'll note that I've cleaned out a couple messages that were inappropriate to this topic, and I ask that that info not be shared or mentioned again, as it's strictly confidential.)

Ask a Question / Re: When did Schools Pricing come in?
« on: May 11, 2017, 10:44:13 am »
We've been charging schools for licenses since at least 2013.

Without getting into specifics, a significant portion of our revenue (and overall interest) now comes from schools.
