I downloaded Stencyl v4.1.4, I'm on Linux 5.15.0-124-generic x86_64 GNU/Linux (Ubuntu). This error happens when I first try to run Stencyl in a shell after it asks if I want to download Java. Also, this causes it to abort so Stencyl doesn't even open :(

Join the discord server, it has more visibility, and there are some users there with linux experience who might be able to help: https://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,48592.0.html

Well, this is in contradiction with the recommendation at https://www.stencyl.com/help/view/reporting-bugs/ : "All bugs should be reported on the Issue Tracker. Please do not send us bug reports via e-mail or via other sources."

To the OP:  I've had the same issue, and went through by adding   --cipher 'DEFAULT:!DH' to the 'curl' command within launcher/Stencyl-linux

Apparently the stencyl webserver serving the "special jdk version" has improper security settings.

Regarding the place bugs go, you're both right.

Ideally bugs will go on the tracker, where they can be indexed by search engines and properly tracked, but the truth is that there are cases where I've failed to check the forums regularly and Luyren has picked up on this and sometimes redirects users to the discord instead. In addition to me, there are many other users who could provide some support on the discord who also may not check the forum often, and in that respect, Luyren's advice is very valid.

Certainly anything is better than the radio silence this issue has received otherwise (sorry about that)!

I'd love to see more issue brought to the issue tracker, but it seems many users are happy to post only in the discord server's #bugs channel, and sometimes that's enough. So regarding the bug reporting link, perhaps the text there should be updated. It's true that we don't want bug reports by email, but explicitly allowing discord might not be a bad practical step.

Regarding this issue itself, it's not a quick task to change the server configuration here, so I've taken ferrieux's suggestion to modify the Stencyl launcher on Linux. This change has been made for b12337.
