Try running this in your command window to use our JRE explicitly and see if that helps:

cd [Stencyl installation directory location]
runtimes\jre-win\bin\java -Xms64m -Xmx2048m -Djava.library.path=lib -jar sw.jar -Duser.home=%USERPROFILE%

Nope, we bundle Java 6 (in Windows and Linux) for this very reason.

Make sure you allow your Mac to install apps from anywhere, not just the Mac App Store or registered developers.

What do you mean by "Stencyl has already been given 4.5gb"? Have you download a 64-bit JRE? Otherwise, there's no way the JRE we ship with Stencyl can handle a heap size greater than 2 GB.

Our very own Innes Borkwood recently completed his work on a textbook entitled Learning Stencyl 3.x Game Development: Beginner's Guide.

Available in both hardcopy and electronic formats (and beginning with a foreword written by Jon), the book provides clear, simple instructions that guide readers through the full game creation process -- from planning and iterating through their first game all the way up to publishing and seeking paid sponsorships.

Having served as a technical reviewer for the book, I can confidently say that Innes's book is a great companion guide to Stencylpedia for anyone looking to get started with Stencyl, particularly those who enjoy a little more structure during the initial learning experience. It's also a great resource for any educators looking to introduce game creation to their students.

I encourage you to check the book out and to let us and Innes know what you think!

We've talked about it in the past. It's definitely not on our plate for 3.0, but it may be something that could be integrated down the road.

When creating a new game, you can select a kit as your starting point. That's effectively the biggest difference.

It's the password for your Mac user account. It's very possible they won't give you keychain login access on a trial account, particularly if they won't let you install software. You may need to actually pay them for an hour or whatever.

I'm really not seeing any problems in your logs. Sometimes the initial export can take a long time. How long have you waited for?
