Paid Work / Simple Quiz APP
« on: May 13, 2018, 03:08:32 am »
Hi,

I was wondering if any of you clever clogs would be interested in a little job.

I would like to make a short personality quiz that I could share on smartphones. There would be 6 levels, each based on a personality type (similar to Myers-Briggs). Each of the 6 levels will consist of 10 multiple choice questions (A or B).

At the end of each level, depending on the score, the player would be presented with a screen that details their personality type.
(For example: Are they Introvert or Extrovert?)

There would need to be an option to email their name and results to a forwarding address if they wanted to receive a more in depth analysis.

No graphics are needed, just a working quiz-style template that I can customize and add the questions in later.

Should be quite a simple job for anyone with a bit of know-how. Payment would be made by Paypal.

Thank you.

Ask a Question / Remove Splash screen on version 2.1?
« on: April 25, 2015, 02:40:34 am »
Hi everyone!

I've a little problem and would be eternally grateful for any suggestions.

My game still features the splash screen when I publish, though the loading screen settings say, "Thanks for subscribing, no splash screen will appear".

I'm using version 2.1.0. if that's any help.

Is there any way around this, or is it just a drawback of using an antiquated version?

Thanks!

Resolved Questions / Re: Can Camera Follow Mouse And Actor? (SOLVED)
« on: April 19, 2014, 11:52:00 am »
Hey Stencyl-Heads!

I'm working on a new game and everything is going brilliantly! The one caveat I have is that I would love to have my Player controlled by the mouse but whenever I attempt this the camera stops scrolling after a certain distance.

When I remove the "Set Camera to Self" (attached to Player) code everything seems okay, but I'm then limited to the screen size and no manner of playing around with the screen bounds seems to help.

I've attached a little mock-up which might better explain what I mean below.

The Player is currently controlled by the keyboard and everything works great, but I've love to know if there is a way of making the Player follow the mouse and have the camera follow it around the game area.

Is this possible , or am I just one of life's foolish dreamers?  :P

Hey fellow Stencyl-Heads!

My first game made the frontpage of Newgrounds (along with a few other Stencylers!).
It probably won't be there for long so catch it while you can!

http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/629717

It's pretty stupid and I regret not having anyone play-test it before shopping it around for sponsors. Needles to say no-one would go near it with a barge-pole, so I figured I'd just run NG ads and learn from my mistakes.

I've already started my next game and it is so much better, thanks to all the cool people on these here forums! Thanks to you all!

Feel free to rip it apart and criticize, I really want to improve!

Ask a Question / Exporting Problem (Help Undestanding Logs)
« on: October 12, 2013, 05:48:34 am »
Hi everyone!

Firstly, I must apologize that my first post here concerns a boring techie problem but I'm at my wits' end!

I've been trawling through hours worth of threads trying to find a resolve but I'm not having any luck.

My problem is that a game I've been working on has stopped exporting when I try to "Test Scene".
I have a previous version of the game that seems to work fine but when I make minor changes to the game (rearranging tiles etc...) something goes askew and I get the "Generating 33%" progress window and then nothing happens.

The most common problem seems to be incompatible sound files but the MP3 I've been using these past months has been working fine and the problem persists even when I remove it.

I'm assuming that this is a memory problem and I have tried increasing my virtual memory and updating JAVA and my Flash player and re-installing Stencyl.

I was hoping that one of you fine Stencylers wouldn't mind browsing through my log to see if you could identify any problems as I'm not smart enough to understand any of it! The only potential error I see is "Warning: This kind of block does not exist" but what does it mean?

Has anybody been successful in overcoming this kind thing? It's annoying as the game is almost done and I wanted to go Pro this weekend! Would upgrading to Stencyl 3.0 sort this out?

(I'm using Windows XP/64 Processor/1.00 GB of RAM)

Sorry for being so crap!

-Turbo.

(Also, if anyone is interested, maybe I could send you the game file and see if you can open it/ resolve the issue. I will give you money for you trouble!)
