iPhone / iPad / Android / Re: Kill Smiley (iOS & Android) - Free

I did a pretty big update on the iOS version. It's on 1.5 now and I'm really happy with where the game is now. Overhauled graphics (mostly UI and such) and some collision and crashing issues! Having issues porting it over to Android, but I'm working on it.

Ask a Question / Re: What pixel size should I use for Apple products?
« on: August 18, 2014, 06:26:06 pm »
I used the resolution of the iPhone 5s, 640x1136. My game has black borders on the sides on a 4, but I don't think it looks bad. That's just me though. My guess is that some might be more tied to perfection and may make unique game screens per device.

Ask a Question / Updates/Patch Review on Apple App Store
« on: August 17, 2014, 09:14:48 am »
So, my game has been out and doing relatively well (depending on your bar for success). For me, success was anyone that I don't know wanting to play it :) I know, I set the bar really high.

I made some major updates and submitted to apple. The initial review of the game never took longer than 6 days. The update however, has been in "waiting for review" for almost 2 weeks now. I guess I wanted to ask you guys experience with this. Are updates generally a lower priority for them and they are slower? Or do you think they're just bombarded with reviews at the moment?

Thanks!

Thanks mor911,

Well it was a game I originally started around 2 years ago using  program called AGS and then kinda abandoned until recently, if I remember right I used a  gif animation of a real man walking and then spent a few days drawing over each frame in photoshop with my character, I wanted the animations to be as realistic as possible so I used real animations to trace over basically. There is also a section in the game where there is a dog that chases after you and I used the same process for the dog.

The game is now waiting for approval on iTunes Connect so should hopefully be live by this weekend.

That's pretty genius dude. Well done. Can't wait for the game to drop.  Looks great

Yeah that look amazing. What did you use to animate the player?

I know everyone says to not use built in stuff, but doesnt it come with some on-screen controls? I am not near my PC or I'd confirm. Check them out and use them as a starting point.

iPhone / iPad / Android / Kill Smiley (iOS & Android) - Free
« on: August 02, 2014, 10:47:56 pm »
Kill Smiley

A very simple (but brutally hard) tap and swipe game. Tap blue dudes, swipe yellow ones. Grab a star for a multiplier and avoid bombs. Game can only last 60 seconds or 3 lives... Which ever comes first. My first game :)

Get the Game!
- App Store
- Google Play

Screenshots

Updates
Update 1.1 is at Apple for approval:
- Score and lives moved IN view
- Issue with bombs spawning and causing the game freeze
- Added a leaderboard link to the game over screen

Ask a Question / Re: App Rejected by Apple because of an iAd Issue

I finally got approved folks! I went all Admob (though I suspect it has more to do with letting the reviewer know where the ads were - Like that article said).

So I'm a happy camper.

Update: My app just got approved first go around!!!! So excited! My app is only serving iads and i said that the game uses the IDFA to serve aps in the game. I'm pretty sure you need to leave this at yes cause I read somewhere that ads call on the IDFA although i've read other sources that indicate otherwise. not too sure on giving a concise answer cause i think everyone is different but I just got approved an I'm running stencyl 3.1 with no facebook extensions/plugins or admobs.
Dude that's awesome news. I hope mine can get in

You should only answer yes to that question if you're showing ads other than iAds.
I think this is where the confusion is. When the question is asked on itunesconnect, it seems like you need to say yes if you use ads at all. So even when I did not have admob, I was saying yes.

hmm it still says your using the idfa though? are you still using admob? if it were just iads and you hit no it should have went through.
Looks like that happens if I use Admob or not.  I think I might try to go all AdMob and follow the advice of that article and explain to the reviewer where the ads are. Then roll the dice again. 3 rejections so far, what's one more :)

I actually tried to just say no and resubmit and they said the Binary was invalid. I attached a screen shot of the email. So I don't think it's as simple as saying no unfortunately.

Wait so is there something wrong with iAds on 3.0 right now cause my game simply uses the "when created- "show ad"
.The ad works fine when I test it on my phone but is my app gonna get rejected because  ads aren't compatible or something? My app has been waiting for review for 4 days now so I'm just wondering..I rly don't want it to get rejected after waiting a week.
This is what's happening to me :(

Basic iAd like that. Fails apple review. Let us know if yours passes. I REALLY hope it does. Then at least I'd know I screwed something up.

Can you test your game on iOS and then generate and post logs?  Maybe there's something in there that will help.
Sure thing, here you go. The test iAd seems to work on the simulator and on the device when I push it to the phone.
