I am sure there are many ways.. but here I am looking for quick pointers on making my first game video.

I have the "perfect" scenario planned in my head, where I kind of tell a story along with some gameplay video..
And I guess the other way is simply let the game speak for itself. capture enough gameplay and not more than a coming soon to iOS at the end..

Can someone help out with giving me some easy steps to capture the video, I was hoping to get it from Simulator.. and not have a camera film the fingers of someone playing.. and maybe edit ?

In my perfect scenario I have cut scene text.. Imagine this
Here is John (zoom in to picture of John), he has a problem, can you help him out (show John Thumbs up!) start gameplay video.. add some pop up text (quick pick up game, fast paced action, etc..) "You think it's easy?" (show hard mode gameplay) try to beat all levels, and play infinite and try to beat your friends !  Coming soon to iOS   ...

Eventually I have just "NOW on IOS"  ent.. change just the ending to match with release..


I think the title says it all..

I want the free to be restricted version with ads and that the can unblock the full version with iAP.
But do you think I can fist submit only the paid version and see how it goes, and then release the free version to "relaunch" the interest ?

Can I find all the occurences of a specific text within my game ?  Let's say I wrote a comment and want to find it back
Can I find all the occurences of a block type ?  For example comments
Can I find all the occurences of an attribute ? For example each place where I use "Score"

I am trying to make sure I am using the correct steps to get my app out there.. can you give me your comments on the below ?

Make game ;)
Test game ;)

Create game video
Publish video on Youtube
Post link to video on my Facebook page
Post link to video on my Twitter
Contact a pr site so they get the buzz for my app  (maybe do you have other possible that work well
List my game on
Submit the app to Apple
Post the status on Facebook that my game was sent
Post the status on Twitter that my game was sent
Then there was a # on twitter to post for number of days to review.. so that gets the word out there as well
Once approved, update Facebook and Twitter as well
I was thinking of going with a coming soon date, not post an actual date with Apple...

What do you think, Am I missing steps ?

I started with the whole social network thing as my launch approaches.
I found some of your pages out there but probably missed most, why don't you send me an invite and I will then add you to my likes.

A good way to keep in touch on top of our great community here :)


I have a scene with several On created behaviors
I also have a Always event on that same scene.

What happens right after the switch scene transition
Do my scene events occur before the events of the scene behaviors ?
When there is a fade in time for the scene, does the scene get created and then the fade happens (meaning by the time it appears the created events already happened) ?

I have some glitch I need to figure out... thanks

Old Questions (from 1.x/2.x) / Generic Gamecenter icons to put in my game

Are there license and royalty free images that I could use for gamecenter (leaderboards and achievements) ? They probably should be 160X160 for 4X scale (so they end up in 40X40 at lowest resolution)

I don`t think I saw anything available from Apple itself.



What would be a good tool to capture some gameplay video and add some punchy text to it to present to reviewers along with the pr etc..


Paid Work / Looking for quick help with graphics (closed)

I have images that need to be fine tuned, when I make the background transparent I have a few pixels that stand out , but when I fill those out with black I am not so sure my outline is clean.

So I am looking for someone to either update my 75 images (they are very similar so maybe it is possible to cut and paste that outline)
Or giving me the instructions on how to fix those.

I am trying to figure out if I really need to test out those 1X graphics which if I understand right would only be used for iPhone 3G or earlier (is this right?)

Would it be a big impact if I don't test on those devices ?
I think there is a big adoption on iOS 7, so it is a big clue that people are using iPhone 4 or higher.. but does anyone know the numbers ?

I am struggling with my objectivity on my images, I have old 40X40 images that get stretched and kind of ok (but blurry) or I have 160X160 images that get screwed somewhat when they are shrinked (but that can be fixed but takes a while!) so I think I am a little paranoid now about what it would look like on older devices and also struggling to get my apps to run on those (maybe it is not even possible to test on iOS 6.1.3 with Stencyl ???!?)


Ask a Question / Behavior when created block not executing

What would cause an actor behavior to not execute it's when created code ?
I duplicated the Follow Path behavior, and named it Follow Path2, I print to the console when creating, and only my original behavior runs its code....

Ideas ?

Ok so I think I found it but I really don't like what I found... looks like once my actors are in a scene and I have custom behaviors when I change the actor to attach new behaviors to it, I also need to go in the scene and select my actor to update it with the new behavior !

Is there a way to mass modify all my actors (refresh them if you will) so that the new behaviors will be considered ?

It looks like I now need ogg music to use Stencyl 3.0

Is there a way to convert my mp3 files without loss ?
If possible without having any software installation...
