Thank you for your feedback so far!
Yeah the sound is great thanks to our amazing Sounddesigner David Lugo.
Has anyone actually played through the whole game? If so how long did it take you to complete the game?

Have you tried randomizing the levels, like in Canabalt or other runner games ?

I can´t even reach the end of the first level, maybe try to optimize your jumping machanics a little bit more. For example the longer you press the higher your jump and if you just press your jump button for a short time let him jump only a bit this way you could dodge the missiles maybe better.

Yeah i can confirm the foreground problem.

Also there is a bug if you jump on an enemy he disapears but while he disapears i took damage again.
The enemys are a bit hard to see.

Oh and some kinde of Energy/Life bar would be nice so you could see how much damge you can take till you die.

Additionally I find that big animations like your intro can reduce file size by animating in adobe flash and exporting it to a .swf after that use coles load swf behavior. That might bring it done alot. Just keep in mind if you plan on getting a sponsorship you're gonna have to go for a lot less of a file size. OR you could make this a mobile/desktop game and not worry about it. Up to you. Good luck, I think this is a great game

The Intro and Outro is streamed from my server at the moment as flv´s so they´re not adding to the file size  ;)^

@spoogob: You mean the folder under "/Usersname/AppData/Roaming/Stencyl/stencylworks/games/Gamename/resources" ?

@Photon: Yeah i know thats why i uploaded it onto my server :D

Yeah i´m looking for a sponsorship but first i need to reduce the file size :D ...
But if that doesn´t work i will of course create a Pc/Mac version for download.

It works for a few sprites but not for my backgrounds. They stay the same size or get reduced maybe by 3 -8 kb.
I used the "save for web and devices" setting in photoshop to save my png files this way they are allready compressed and have a much smaller size compared to the normal way you can save pngs.

I will check this on all of my files the next few days and check if it´s worth the stress to change every sprite within the game just for 2-3 MB.
If it´s worth it i will definitly do it!

Is there any way i can run this in any stencyl folder or do i have to reimport every image ?

Hope i can add all SFX in the next 1-3 days

thank you for your feedback so far.

- The thing with more Checkpoints is that, first we didn´t had any checkpoints so the game was a bit more arcade like. But i could add maybe 1 more checkpoint into the first few levels for a less frustrating learning curve.

- Yeah we had the discussion about the double jump also in class where a fellow student mentioned that it didn´t make sense because cats can´t double jump in real life... But then Cats can´t invent timemachiens too :D

- I allready optimized the png files for the game. I cant use pngquant since it will convert all pngs into png8 which then have no alpha chanel which i need for most of the animated sprites.
I saved every file which could be png8 allready as png8 using photoshop.
But with more than 200+ art assets is think its hard to compress them any further and the amount of assets is pumping my game size up.

- We are currently adding the missing sound effects!

CATVENTURES is a jump and run game about a scientist-cat traveling in time to save his nieces and nephews and to bring them safely back to the present.

One day the scientist is building on his time machine when his two nephews and two nieces come in his laboratory for a visit. Curiously they run to the machine and start playing with it, when suddenly the machine goes on and the kitties disappear in different centuries. Now it´s up to the scientist to travel in time and to bring the kitties back to the present.

Here is a little Gamplay Video of the Game:

Currently the games file size is pretty big (~30MB) and we are still trying to optimize it, but you can still play the current game which is fully playable with all levels and features included.

Play Me:

X - Jump / Confirm
C - Run / Back
Arrow Keys - Move / Navigate Menu
Up Key - Talk / Interat
Q - Pause

Feature List:
  • 20 Levels in 5 different time periods
  • 20+ traps, enemies and deadly obstacles
  • 5 musical Themes, one for every time period
  • 10 Collectable Items
  • Checkpoints
  • Intro & Outro

It´s Y because i use a german keyboard and have also uploaded it for friends for beta-testing ...

The game was intended to be played with a controller at least at the exibition. That´s why there are no controlls explained ingame but i´ll surely add this feature.
