Old Questions (from 1.x/2.x) / Re: Resolution x2 ?

I think the question is about how this software handles resolutions, and then delivers to each device.

Thanks, Dizko. I can't say how many lost hours I've spent on this one thing. Your explanation really shed some light on things. Yes, that document, please!

Thanks!

Read the comments - I think there's a lot of confusion around this: http://www.stencyl.com/help/viewArticle/90

Not automagic for me - I'm sure I'm missing something.

I want to deploy to iPad, as well as Retina and non-Retina iPhone. What are the settings?

I'm guessing 1024x768 72 ppi, but do I then import at 1x or 2x? And what do I set my Game Settings to, vis-a-vis Mobile Game Settings? What's the difference between 1x import and 2x import.

What will happen to the aspect ratio on iPhone?

And why, if I set Game Settings to 1024x768, if I import at 2x, is the background too small in the scene editor but then too big in the simulator? In fact, if I import at 1x, although it's fine in the scene editor, the image is way too big in the simulator? It's driving me around the bend.

I'm sure nothing is broken, but I'd love a detailed explanation of how to import a @!*% background, and the settings for different deployments.

Have these been solved?

Nope. But I've found the log files digging around. I'll email them over.

If I go Debug > View Workspace Folder, nothing happens.

Same with Debug > View Games Folder

Resolved Questions / [2.0 Official] Cannot start new game or download
« on: April 20, 2012, 05:52:06 am »
I've installed 2.0. It appears to have come with no sample games or kits. When I try to download from StencylForge, it looks like it completes the download process, but no games show up in Games.

I next tried to create a new game. Stencyl gets stuck on the "Saving" dialogue (with animation running), until I shut Stencyl down.

Each time I restart Stencyl, I am asked to agree to the EULA again. For this reason, I thought Stencyl might not have read/write privileges, or it's a user privileges problem. So:

1) I set permissions for ALL the files on my system to be read/written by all users (probably not a good idea)
2) Deleted any file that had anything to do with Stencyl
3) Rebooted
4) Reinstalled

Same result.

Macbook Air 1.7 i5. OS X 10.7.3

Trying to evaluate Stencyl over the weekend. Showstopper.

Old Questions (from 1.x/2.x) / New iPads with bad screens
« on: March 18, 2012, 06:02:01 am »
Bought my new iPad Friday -- the screen has a horrible, uneven yellow tint to it. Compared one of my own apps on the iPad 1 against the New iPad. Phenomenal difference. Taking it back today.

In the UK anyway, I'm starting to see people posting about this (although nowhere else). If you buy a new iPad, make sure you sense check the colour temperature and evenness. The bad pads are pretty bad!

Ask a Question / iBooks Author widgets & HTML5
« on: March 18, 2012, 05:22:12 am »
When you implement HTML5 export in 2.0, will you consider adding an option to directly export to iBooks Author? Hype's new release does this (and I think Strata as well).

Chit-Chat / Re: GS versus Stencyl thread at Gs forums !!
« on: February 20, 2012, 02:53:58 pm »
I think a lot of the time it's just new users making mistakes with the programme, or not getting it to work perfectly on the first time, and making the generalisation that it's Stencyl's fault. Most of the "problems" these people claim to have are usually just issues on their end :P

Perhaps there wouldn't be so many of these if the documentation were a bit better. Stencyl is great, but like ay powerful tool,it requires comprehensive documentation.

Very happy to see so many GS people here. The number one reason I made the switch is seeing Jon here on the boards, every day, and responding to queries with builds.

The other number one reason is stability - not breaking my work with each added feature. Is Stencyl agile? I'll bet it is.

The other number ones are iAP, access to code, tool stability, collision boundaries, price, and on and on. I only wish I had my $499 back.

My other only wish: comprehensive, detailed, indexed stencyl documentation.

Great job Stencyl Team!
