iPhone / iPad / Android / Re: Bad Geisha - android
« on: September 10, 2014, 04:04:44 am »
I actually did this little game many months a go, but never got around to releasing it. But now decided, what the heck, let's release it. The name of the game, which I love, comes from a saying my wife has when she does something unladylike: "I'm being a Bad Geisha.." Gotta love for that.

Bad Geisha

Bad Geisha is the only Bloody Casual mobile game that helps have a bad ass heroine that they feel like isn’t from a teenage school boys disturbing wet dream. The game has a female lead character, who isn't half-dressed and doesn't present herself in an overtly sexual way, but is still a bad ass.

Bad Geisha takes its inspiration from traditional Japanese imagery, such as geishas and samurais, and adds in a healthy dose of modern Japanese visual style. The gameplay is simple, it can be played by swiping with one finger. Swipe left and right to move, up to change weapon and down to shoot.

And please let me know what you think!

iPhone / iPad / Android / Bone Up! - Android release
« on: July 08, 2014, 01:36:40 am »
Bone Up! was a Ludum Dare entry at first, but we finally decided to release it as an Android game.

Mino loves to dig up bones from the yard and chase down Molemorts, the moles living in the yard. After a day of hard digging and chasing, Mino will sleep well. Mino’s owner doesn’t like the holes in the yard, but loves to see the Molevorts gone. Bone Up is fun for both adults and kids who love cute dogs.

The game is Free and the gameplay is very simple, just swipe left and right to change direction and down to dig.

Ask a Question / Re: Font issue on android
« on: June 13, 2014, 01:05:59 am »
I didn't try that, next time..

Bitmap fonts work completely. I just made a png on photoshop with all the fonts I needed and mapped them on stencyl. Fortunately my fonts were monospaced and it was really easy to add new characters. It's a bit more work, but now the fonts don't have those sharp lines, that show especially with higher resolution devices, and they seem to fit in a bit better into the other graphics. And with photoshop you can do little detail stuff like slight drop shadows and strokes. Pretty happy with it!

Nothing I did helped, and then I went for the bitmap font route. It's looking much better now. It was about time I learnt how to use them. :)

Ask a Question / Font issue on android
« on: June 12, 2014, 01:45:20 am »
Hi guys!

I've been having a smallish issue with fonts on android. Some fonts get these small glitches on the outside of individual fonts, atleast on my nexus 7. The attached image shows it on the 1, i and n. It is not a huge issue, but on a minimal design, it doesn't look great.

Sometimes changing font sizes changes it, but not always. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers!

Aah, live and learn. I tried to rate a lot more than I was able to, but they were mostly .exe's, but I'm on a mac..

Here are my points. Pretty happy with them, for what it was. All in all a great experience and I'll be releasing a post compo game soon on android. I think I might have to release it as a kids game, because the coolness factor wasn't really there was it? ;)

AdMob / Re: [iOS & Android] AdMob Extension [2.1]
« on: May 19, 2014, 10:59:38 am »
hey guys
how you handle the initialize admob fullscreen ad block?
i mean if you just load it once if you start the game?

have have this codeline now in my mainmenue
so it initialize the fullscreen ad at the start
but every time i switch back to the main menue it initialize again

so how you handle this?

i just can do an extra scene before the mainmenue for initialize
and you cant switch to this scene
but i think this make s my game a lil bit look weird

What I did with one of my games was I had 2 duplicated title screens, one that initialised all the variables and one you returned to when returning to the main menu.

I did it so that there is a when created block in the main menu page. It has an if-statement in it that asks if a boolean banner initialized is not true, then initialize admob ... after the initialization there's a set boolean banner to false. So the next time it comes in, the boolean banner is false and it doesn't go in.

AdMob / Re: [iOS & Android] AdMob Extension [2.1]

According to what I've read in this topic, it's a known issue and has no fix at the moment. :(
It also happens to me with my Motorola Moto G. The thing is, in my case at least, it only happens when tapping the 'Back' button. With the 'Home' button there is no malfunction.

By the way, thanks Abliblablobla for this extension, it's great :D

Okay, thanks for the answer! I tried to work around, but didn't manage, so I changed my ads to interstitials instead. They fit my design better anyway.

And I agree, great extension!

Did a little steampunk engine for fun. Not usually my cup of tea, but I was feeling adventurous. Doubled in size for viewing purposes.

I'm having a little bit of an issue with the  admob extension on Android. I'm using a banner ad, on the bottom if that matters, and when the game  loses focus the ad disappears. For example, when I go to see another program and come back the ad is gone. And it won't come back anymore in the places I have a SHOW AD.

Anyone?

Ah, cool. Flash is ok.

I like the fact that it's not the same ole same ole too. And I even found the strangest folk tale from Finland. It's about this mechanical "robot" that plows the field. The villagers always say hello to it, but it never replies. They start talking about it being rude and full of himself. Of course it cannot answer, as it is a machine designed only to plow. The story ends in the robot drowning in a ditch, because the guy who is supposed to turn it every time it reaches the border of the field fell asleep. There were claims that the villagers had something to do with it.
