Bug Archives / Re: Game Won't Compile (possibly from updating?)
« on: June 04, 2016, 10:46:18 pm »
Okay, ignore everything I just said. I uninstalled and reinstalled Stencyl. The "Dirty Installation" error message went away, however I'm still getting the image error when trying to test basically any of my games that haven't been touched after I updated. Something got messed up when Stencyl converted my files to the new format or something. What do I do to fix it?

It's definitely the engine. I ran an old game with 2 scenes and very little actors and it worked fine. Then I run another untouched game after the update and it gives the same error. I even installed Stencyl to a new folder,  just as the dirty installation error message told me to do. Didn't work.

Keep in mind that everytime I open an old game it asks me to upgrade it to the new stencyl format.

- BUT, I have no idea what you mean, the post you linked me to does not remotely pertain to my situation. None of the fix methods work for me and it's got nothing to do with a dirty installation or updating errors.
I don't know where the .pref files are?

That doesn't really help me, all of my images weren't an issue before updating Stencyl. I even deleted all images I imported after the update. I think it's an engine error from updating. How do I fix the "Dirty Installation" without losing my games?

Bug Archives / Game Won't Compile (possibly from updating?)

My game was loading and playing fine last night, but after updating to the newest Stencyl (was a couple versions behind), the game no longer runs. Instead I get an error message that my game cannot be compiled. This was the exact reason I was scared to update for so long.

Whenever I start Stencyl it has it has a dirty installation and that I need to reinstall or relocate the stencyl folder to prevent engine problems. How do I do this without losing the games I am working on?

- UPDATE: I just noticed the compile error message says one of my images is too large to be included or something? It worked fine before updating and I don't see any images that could be too large... But could this also be an engine error from "Dirty Installation"?

*I attached the log files or whatever. Help please :'/

Bug Archives / Can't import a gif
« on: June 03, 2016, 01:07:21 pm »
Whenever I have tried to import two different gifs stencyl displays an error message that stencyl has overloaded, then it shows the 90% memory warning. When I exit the image upload box, the gif then shows up... However, not all frames are there and don't work properly. Whenever I try to exit the game and editor (which is very laggy at this point) it doesn't let me save. Whenever I save the save dialog stays on the screen indefinitely. In the rare cases that it saved during force quitting the application, it has missing image files when I reopen the game. What to do?

Ask a Question / Re: User Interface Issue

Please realize that I have no idea how to implement that  ???
Haha, can you make a screenshot? :S

Here's an example: https://twitter.com/Trixel_Creative/status/688852784121278467
(Whenever the mouse hovers over the keyboard it selects the "Play" button also since it's behind it... even when hidden)

Game Art / Re: Hi I’m a 2D Graphic Design Artist (Vector) for hire

Are you familiar with LittleBigPlanet games and the main character, Sackboy?

I need an animated character of him that is realistic enough, but still cartoon-ish... if you know what I mean?
It needs to fit this art style: http://trixel.weebly.com/uploads/2/4/8/3/24831384/3378338_orig.png?401

Running, jumping, standing idle, falling, and wall jumping animations are currently needed.
Let me know if you think you are able to do so!

Edit:
Here's the original post for this game: http://community.stencyl.com/index.php/topic,43800.msg245404.html#msg245404

Ask a Question / How to Save a Screenshot?
« on: January 22, 2016, 06:33:25 pm »
Hello! I have a screenshot button as a part of my user interface, but I can't seem to find any way to save the current scene as a screenshot on the hard drive.

Ask a Question / User Interface Issue
« on: January 22, 2016, 06:30:29 pm »
Whenever I have an actor over a User Interface (even when not visible) the user interface is still interactive.
For example, whenever I click on the actor that is covering up an interactive button, the button still activates even though there is another actor in front of it, even when hidden.

Is there a workaround or fix for this?

Ask a Question / Sackboy Character for "LittleBigPlanet: Flash"
« on: September 05, 2015, 11:04:15 am »
So I'm sure it's unheard of in this community, but last year I was given permission by the community managers of Sony to recreate LBP in the form of a free, non-profit, and fan-made flash game. Progress has continued to be made for over a year and there has been lots of time off of working on this, at least 3 restarts, but now I have finally managed to capture the vibe of the original LittleBigPlanet that makes it feel nostalgic enough to earn the LittleBigPlanet title.

However, I need a model of the main character, 'Sackboy'. It shouldn't be pixel art, but instead decently animated and somewhat cartoonish/realistically textured. It needs to fit the theme of the screenshot I've attached to this post.

If you think you can create this, know how, or know someone who can, please let me know as soon as possible. The Private Beta for this game is planned to launch before the end of this year to test out the UI, character controls, and at least one level/mini-game.

There's a lot of work to be done, but the project cannot continue until a character is created. This is basically the biggest project I've ever worked on, and the developers of LittleBigPlanet are even expecting to see the semi-finished/finished game. They will also be linked to the beta, and although free, your name will be in the credits/opening screens of the game. :)

Thanks so much for taking your time to read this, and I desperately hope someone can help.

Ask a Question / Re: Enable/Disable Behaviour? -HELP

Could you post screenshots or video?

I added the command block to disable the actor, but it didn't work?

I agree. I want to disable an actor after a sprite is hidden but I can't figure out how.

Basically when my mouse hovers over an actor I want a tooltip to appear without having to design an image and import it as an actor. What is the easiest and simplest way to do this? Video tutorials would help most. I find it easier to replicate that way, but please explain the best you can! :o

Another issue I need help with is that I have a menu that shows up when you hold down the control button (ctrl), and when the layers are hidden for the menu (which makes the menu hide completely), you can still hover your mouse over where the items are when they were visible and can hear the hover sounds and when you click these items, although invisible, it still works.
How can I deactivate all actors on a layer? Like when I hide the menu there should be no sound and it shouldn't be clickable like when it is visible.

Thanks a ton! :)
