Archives / 3D Model Support via Flash?
« on: July 02, 2012, 08:48:53 pm »
I know that Flixel is the library that is used for Stencyl and everything goes to Flash, but since Flash has the support for it, is it possible for 3D support to be added? Sure, it's extremely hard compared to sprites and 2D, but it would still be easier to code than from scratch for devs, right? I think 3D support would be  very great addition if it's even possible.

You could have the muzzle just
*TRANSFORM*

You DO have weapons with you, like a Saw and jackhammer. You can make more along the way.
It's also more of a "you have no other choice" thing because you literally cannot leave without the help of your crew. You and everyone else is trapped underground with no way back up. But if you rally everyone back together, you can have them think of a solution and create a device to get you back to the surface.

Also, right now I don't see it as a horror game.

You would go down for 2 reasons.

1. Explore to find your crew. Why would you leave them behind? You can't get out without them.
2. You were told to get an element from underground.

The ground isn't solid. It's a cavern. There's pretty much a second civilization underground in a vast series of tunnels and chambers.

The treasure is the element stated earlier. I need to think this next part up because I'm not sure if it is significant to the beings underground that are not animals. I'm also not sure about the origin of the beings yet.

Well, it's supposed to be like a bullet hell game, so an HP bar wouldn't exist. A life pool, however, would do nicely. I'd probably put that into a harder mode so it's not too difficult.

That designated role form system sounds amazing.

And for multiplayer, given that this is Flash, iOS, Android and HTML5, I've decided to come up with a Netplay mode. Player entry would be at the title, and both players join up with each other to play over the net, since playing 2 player on one iPhone or Android phone would not really work very well unless there were dedicated controllers for each player (I think they sell Bluetooth pads for iOS devices) so Netplay is a better option. This does not mean I'm taking local out. I'd make it to where you assign your controller and I hope to put in support for Arcade Sticks, Xbox 360 controllers or generic custom controllers. Playing it with a Dreamcast controller, though, I'd slip in there. ;>

Edit: The assigned role mechanic could be put into its own dedicated mode.

A multiplayer kit.

I should make sweet love to you.

I'm back on these forums, guys! :U

Now, a while after I posted my older thread which put out the basic concept of what Tartarus would be, I didn't put a backstory or any concept art of any characters or how the art style would be, either.

Well, I don't have art yet because I plan to make an entirely new sprite. But I do have story that could potentially deviate from this.

You are a miner sent to a location with a stunning new mineral that lies there waiting to be extracted. An accident with your Drill Pod occurs, and you and other group members are trapped underground. It turns out that you are not alone in this cave, because there are native creatures that are hostile and mindless animals, and others who are rational beings. The only way to go is down, and you've got a long way to go to search for your team. Build an arsenal, protect yourself, and discover a hidden treasure!

The business from the old thread still applies to this one. But, as with all games, things can deviate. I also still need a coder. ;w;

Discuss and leave feedback!

Thank you for your interest!

I, uh, haven't been on here due to school, but I also have entered a game concept of mine into an art competition that was not this one. I would like to get back to this project and get a playable demo out as soon as I can get a coder. I also plan on getting a shoot-em-up put out. So many ideas. I do hope I can work with Lit-Switch since Stratseo is a good friend of mine and would like to collaborate with him on this.

Tartarus may well end up being my first game, though. That or Devilwing, which I have just posted not too long ago.

I also apologize for bumping this, thread, but I didn't think I should make a new thread to just post this, but I had to say this.

Cave Story, Bastion.... I can't think of others right now, but there are a lot more.
Also shows tend to inspire me, too.

I had some artistic inspiration and after playing Ikaruga for the first time a month or two ago, I fell in love. It get me creating some ship concept art and also got my creative juices flowing.

Why not make a shoot-em-up as a tribute to Ikaruga?

I don't have much of a backstory, but your ship can change its form and function differently in each form to perform different tasks for most situation. It would require a quick finger to switch form and fast thinking.

It would also have multiplayer for coop. I'd design it to where cooperating rather than just shooting two ships at the same time would be vital to survival. The bosses would be harder since you would have to act cooperatively with your ship to take the boss down since it acts differently than in Singleplayer.

Let me know what you think.

I can volunteer to do a concept art of Axel. :> I'm a pretty decent artist. I also like this game concept.
