Ask a Question / Re: "Pong" Style game.
« on: November 29, 2013, 11:06:09 am »
Well basically what I want the game to be like, is a flash game called "Extreme Pong Deathmatch!" and I want to be able to have it be two player so that player 1 can use the "arrow" keys and player two can use different keys on the keyboard to play as well. I will also need a 1 player mode and have the second "paddle" AI operated and have 3 difficulty settings (if possible). For the gameplay I would like the ball to be a tiny bit faster then most "Pong" style games. I would also like to make it so that there are these blocks that generate at random times in the center of the board & when they are broken something will happen.. Example 1: Player 1 breaks a brick in the center causing the ball to shoot out several other balls into the game.  Example 2: Player 2 breaks a brick in the center causing a "Wall" to form in the middle of the board that needs to be hit 3 times to break the wall down. This is basically what I am trying to create but I am VEEERY new to this. I hope this was easy to understand!

Hey all just curious on what type of behaviors I would need for a "Pong" style game.
I need to know just a few things like making a "scoring" system and also I would like to make randomly generated "blocks" that generate randomly in the game. Please help!

We are currently doing something similar where I work on the game and just send it to him via Skype but, like you had mentioned we cannot work on the game at the same time or anything.. I was hoping there were a way we could BOTH work on it at the same time since we are basically on the computer at the same time.. So that for example I could work on Animation for actors while he creates some behaviors and what not. Is there no way for us to work on it at the same time somehow?

I have made a thread before about working on a project with a friend who is in a different country and the issue seemed resolved at the time about how we can both work on the game. The issue is, we can easily send the file of the game after we add things to it. But the big question here is, can we possibly INSERT the things we worked on into the same file so that we are not just sending a NEW game back & forth over and over and losing what we work on? Please help!

Ask a Question / White Background on "Actors"
« on: November 25, 2013, 06:02:34 pm »
Hey all. Quick question regarding my actors for my game. I don't like using the built in "Pencyl" editor for making actors so I use a website that has a graph so I can just fill it in and make 8-bit characters. But I have to save the image from the website and it saves with a white background, so whenever I add it to Stencyl my actor has a white background and I am having trouble removing it and editing. Please help!

Ask a Question / Pixel Art / Animation.

Hey all! So a friend & I are working on a small project together and we figured since he is better at coding and such he would do all that and I would do design. I have the job of making the characters & create the levels. Creating levels for me is no problem. But I am TERRIBLE at Art / Animation. I do not own any fancy programs to make any characters (Example: Photoshop). Basically the only tool I have aside from the one included in Stencyl, is Paint. I would like some beginner tips and some advice for making some decent pixel art & animations! Thanks! :)

Perfect answer! Thank you! So basically, as myself I could work on some character design, level design, maybe make some "Actor Behaviors" etc, etc. Then, after I am finished I could just send it to him and he could maybe do some coding, touch ups on things I created and so on?

Hello all! I just had a really quick question to ask and hopefully someone can help me out! So a friend & I were hoping to use Stencyl to create games together just as fun, small projects to work on together just to gain experience of gaming making and such. So the question I have is.. My friend lives in a different country & we were wanting to work on the same project together. So, the question is: Is there any way possible for my friend & I to work on the same project together somehow? Please let me know. Thanks! :)
