Please, if you can in the future release a Mac version with JRE 8 already embedded.

Completed / Distribute the 3.x beta also through a Dropbox shared folder

I'm having a lot of problems each time I download the latest beta, because I have a quite slow connection to the internet and most of the time I can't download the whole package in less than 30 minutes.
I think it would be more simple if you could distribute the beta version to the subscribers also through a dropbox private folder, that you could share with the members of the beta program.

Best regards

I think the problem is with the file-size limit in Flash. All frames of a single animation are added together in a strip, so the file can easily get too large with a big actor. You may need to break the frames into more animations and create a behavior to link them together properly.

Thank you for the clarification

Ah, someone beat me to it. Find the "set offscreen bounds" block and place it in the "when created". Setting "left" to 100 would mean that the actor can go 100px beyond the left of the screen without being considered offscreen.

Thank you very much

Pardon my ignorance but I'm a Stencyl Newbie, how do I change the offscreen bound settings ?

Ask a Question / Use a (big) actor to create an animated background

Hi, I need the help of an expert :)
I need to use an actor for making an animated background. And I'm needing a pretty big actor (about 1280x720 pixels in size)
The actor will have 3 states with 3 different animation: one initial animation, one looping animation and one final animation; every state will have approximately 12-16 frames.
Later, I'll need to export this project to HTML5.

This is the sequence I need to obtain:
1) At the beginning the actor will play an initial animation sequence
2) then when the initial animation sequence has finished playing it must enter a different animation sequence that must be looped until some event is fired (for example a mouse click)
3) when that event is fired, it should play a final animation.

Do you know if this is achievable with Stencyl? I just tried with Stencyl 2.0 but I can't even get the actor displayed on the screen (while a smaller, test actor put on the same stage is displayed properly)
If you can confirm it can work on Stencyl 3.0 beta I'll buy a license right now.

I have attached to this message a scaled-down animated GIF file of the sequence I need to play.

Thank you

I think that it would be super cool if Stencyl could support Python as its scripting language. Why Python? Because IMHO it's easy to learn but yet very powerful, it's much better than Javascript IMHO, has already a big userbase on its own, python scripts can be converted into C++ code with some efforts and there is a project like Pyjamas that converts python into javascript code on-the-fly. After all if Gamesalad uses Lua, why not Python?

But I guess that my wish is only a dream...

On Mac OS X inside the drop-down menu if you want to check if a new release of Stencyl is available you have to choose File -> Check for updates; That's not very mac-esque, since Mac users are used to have this choice under the name of the app itself.

Since English is not my native language and I'm not sure if I explained this issue clearly, let me make an example:

Actually the Stencyl menu under Mac OS X has:

Stencyl  File  View  Run  Publish  Extensions  Debug  Help

I'd like to ask you if you could move the update checker under Stencyl -> Check for updates when Stencyl is running on a Mac
