Stencyl Jam 14 / Re: Stencyl Jam #14 - $1,000 in prizes - Now Judging.

Yeah. I think I donto think I knew enough to do something in time that would be decent enough for this. I had no idea how much time I would actually need to get this done. I would like to do this next year though, when I'm more experienced. Thanks for the help that I've got so far everyone. :)

Sounds like its iffy.  I guess I shouldn't then, just in case. I doubt I'll be able to finish anything in time for the contest. Guess it will have to be simple or nothing at all.

Thanks anyways everyone.  :)

Can we add the premade behaviors to our games for this contest? How about backgrounds music, etc...?

Another question. I know that time is kinda short. Are we allowed to use tiles or music from the Stencyl forge for stencle jame entrys or do they have to be made from scratch? I'd have to figure outy how to do the later one.

Thanks. I thought I did that though. I do have Norton 360 on. Also I tried a game here that worked, but I think it wasn't on that site and it ran.

Edit; I could run the 2 art game and one other so far.

I cant play any of the submissions that I tried there so far. It wont show the games when I click to play them at the site. Why would that be?

Thanks. Saw it. I'll try it later today. Thanks so much.

OK . I'll try that later today. Thanks. I appreciate it.

I hope you get an answer on this. I think this is the same problem that I'm seeing in the second crash course tutorial. Maybe I can try what someone suggested here and make the code. Though I'd have to look up how to do it. I don't have much experience in programing.

Ask a Question / Crash Course 2

Hi. I've been doing crash course 2 and finished everything but the publishing. My problem is that sometimes when i test the game, after shooting a few of the ships, the remaining wont respond to being hit unless I shoot 2 or 3 or more bullets at it.
Has anyone else had this problem.? Does anyone know why this happens? It's kind of happens randomly.
Thanks. I really want to get this done and start making a game of my own and I don't want stuff like this happing in it.

Ask a Question / Re: Error when testing game (.swf not found).

Finally got the thing to work. I tried downloading a shooter game to see if that would run in the program and it said that I had to download something else to do it. I think it was a 2010 c++ windows compiler (something like that. Was a really long download). I was able to get my first crash course game running in the standered player, but not the browser (Though it did say it was doing it. Though I couldnt get the other game going.  Thanks anyways.

I have a similar problem.
I got to the end of part 5 of the first tutorial and, when I tried testing the game, it wouldn't work.
I wanted to show what it said in the log, but I couldn't figure out how to copy it and put it here.
Anyways it has error messages and cant find file specified for some reason. If someone could help me, that would be greatly appriciated. I'm gonna tried to go through the tutorial again till then and see what happens. Thanks.
BTW..... this is the message I got:  [LOG] Running inside browser.
[ERR] C:\Documents and Settings\Michael\Application Data\Stencyl\stencylworks\games-generated\Crash Coarse Game\Export\flash\bin\Crash Coarse Game.swf (The system cannot find the file specified)

Hi everyone. I'm new to this program. I'm pretty much a beginner in game making, except for dabbling here and there on the warioware game, scratch (very little), etc...
No complete games.

I heard that I could actually publish a game without progaming knowledge using a program like this. So that got me interested in trying to do that. I'd like to try entering the Stencyl contest and I'm starting out with the crash courses. I also would  have a goal of trying to get a finished game on the Google App store (Hopefully a somewhat successful one).
