...I should really stop forgetting that Stencylforge exists. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!

Ask a Question / How to create a Panel de Pon-like?
« on: March 14, 2015, 08:13:10 pm »
I've been replaying Pokemon Puzzle Challenge* recently, and seeing as I've hit a roadblock in my raising sim I thought I'd start to make a similar game (in terms of gameplay) for mobile. However, I haven't seen any sort of guides on how to create one using Stencyl, which is a bit of a problem.

For the unfamiliar, Panel de Pon is kind of like a match-three game mixed with Tetris; the most basic description of the gameplay is you have to match three or more panels by moving them around the board while the panels slowly rise to the top of the screen, and if they hit the top you lose.  Here's a video of the PCC gameplay for visual reference.

I think I can get the panels to vanish when matched, but I'm not sure how to get the pieces to fall properly or make the new panels rise from the bottom, and I haven't found anything that would apply in the Stencylpedia.

(*PPC is a rebranded Panel de Pon game, if you don't want to follow the link. Tetris Attack is another rebranded Panel de Pon game, though I've not played it so I don't know how similar it is.)

Chit-Chat / Re: How did you find out about us?

I was reading this thread (may require an account) on Something Awful and saw that Stencyl was recommended for beginner developers... somewhere in the thread, it's probably like 100 pages back now... over Game Maker, since Stencyl was generally more user-friendly.

Ask a Question / Multiple Save Slots
« on: May 03, 2014, 09:14:21 am »
Sorry if this is a repeat; the most recent question I could find for this was months before Stencyl 3.0 was released.

My game is a raising sim akin to Princess Maker or Long Live The Queen. All the saving information I can find on a skim through Stencylpedia assumes that I'm making a shooter, platformer, or other level-based game, and none of them allow for more than one save slot. Is there a way to allow for more than one save (particularly if that way allows for an achievement system)? I'd rather not need my players to play through the entire game again if they only need minor stat changes to get a different ending.
