Ask a Question / Re: Cannot build to HTML5 - Logs attached

Good call.  I created a new 'blank' game.  Same deal, I can test HTML5 but cannot publish.

I've attached the log for the blank game as well.

I'm attempting to export to HTML5 (I'd seen elsewhere on the forum someone suggesting reinstalling Android SDK for this same issue).

Totally get that it's in beta, but my sense is at least a few people have been able to publish to HTML5 successfully.

Works when testing in HTML5, but encounter errors when trying to publish.  I've tried reinstalling Java JDK and Android SDK and no luck.  Any help would be appreciated!

Using Stencyl 3.4.0 build 9300 - For what it's worth, when I've tried it in 3.5 the games wouldn't work at all, even in testing.

Uhh....  I found my contradictory code.

If anyone's interested, I had another gamepad instruction (using up and down buttons) in a Scene Behaviour for a pause menu.  I had forgotten to put 'If Paused' before those button commands.

Hence the crashes.    Oooooops!

Mini-update!    This is a 2-button game, with only the left and right buttons executing moves.  When 'up' or 'down' are pressed the game crashes.    I've made 2 button games before, but obviously I'm missing something...

I've attached screenshots of the related behaviours.

Ask a Question / Game crashing with gamepad [Solved]

Hey everyone!   I'm exhibiting my game this weekend and suddenly it's crashing.  Haven't the slightest idea why, other than it may be related to recently-added gamepad behaviours.

Hope someone can interpret the error log.

This board has saved my butt before, thanks in advance!

Dialog Extension / Re: "Dialog Extension" has thrown an error

Wow, you're absolutely right - It was my old friend, the cut and paste typo.

Thanks for the help and also the great extension!

Dialog Extension / [Solved] "Dialog Extension" has thrown an error
« on: August 17, 2015, 07:55:00 pm »
So... just when I was wrapping up a game...

When I open up the game there is a Toolset Extension Error pop up stating "Dialog Extension" has thrown an error.

Looking inside the extension within the game, the dialog windows and macros windows (where you place text, etc..) is now blank.  The funny thing is the game can still be played with some dialog still working, so it's in there somewhere.

I suspect this is self-inflicted; right before this error I had been prowling around the 'extras' folder because I was going to place a new window .png file.   Although I didn't intend to alter an files, I did open the [ext] data structures folder and may have inadvertently screwed it up in a major way.

Also want to take a second to say what an amazing extension this is - is was really rolling with it until I mucked it up!

A typo ~  Gah!

Also the tip to find the file/line number will be useful for my next goof up.  Thanks again!

Resolved Questions / [Solved] Error: String should be float
« on: July 11, 2015, 09:41:56 pm »
Hey everyone, first time long time.    I've run into my first (seemingly) unsolvable error.

There are solved questions with "string should be float" but can't see how that is applicable here.   I am also unable to accurately locate the line and column detailed in the error message.   Basically, this guy needs help!

The error appears to be in a "When Updating" event named "Level Handler".  Screenshot and Log are attached.

Level Handler: String should be Float
                               from scripts.Design_5_5_LevelHandler
                               line: 396
                               columns: 12-26

Any help or direction would be very appreciated!

Hey Stencylers!  I whipped this up in the last 24 hours before the jam ended.  Had a lot of fun making it.

Hey everyone,

Here is my recently completed first game.  I initially began it as an excuse to compose the music, but I had a blast throughout the entire process.   Stencyl is a fantastic program, obviously.

All feedback is appreciated!
