Game Art / Re: What programs do yall use to make yalls art?

Every since Adobe started their CreativeCloud program allowing access to all CS6 software for $50 bucks a months, it's become affordable for me to have a workflow based on Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash almost exclusively. Photoshop Extended even allows for animating sprites with the timeline capability. Where the Adobe programs are lacking I'll turn to Manga Studio and Corel Painter, depending on whether I'm doing comic book style linework, or more fantasy based painterly styles, but don't use those nearly as often as the Adobe suite.

Just watched this last night, definitely inspirational, though I would have liked even more insight into the game making process in lieu of the dramatic aspects. Overall though, a well put-together documentary and I hope this encourages those of us who might have second thoughts about 'making our silly little game'. It certainly encouraged me.

Hey Lazyboy, that looks really good. I instantly recognized it as how you described.

Thanks to this thread I've caught a major case of the pixel art bug. Here's a little sprite I did of good ol' Robocop,

You probably should have posted it smaller though.  And the edges of the eyes have clashing color with the rest of the character, especially considering that you colored the outline of the character (assuming it was black when you started drawing).  I think it would be better if you went with a very dark purple as opposed to black.  But like many things, I could be wrong.

Or you could be right ;) Thanks for input!

Loving this thread, lots of great examples of pixel art. Here's one of a character of mine called Wreck-Tangle:

I'm not as well versed in pixel art as some of the other artists that posted so it doesn't quite look as good as I'd like.

Update: I brought the size down as kindly suggested by Kajitii, and also re-did the eyes. Looks much better now!

Hello, the name's Basil and I'm a graphic artist/illustrator by trade. I look forward to learning as much as I can about Stencyl from the fine folks in these forums. It'll be a long road, since I'm not inclined to program, but I look forward to learning!  :D
