Ask a Question / Print To Console - Not Working 3.2
« on: January 03, 2015, 03:36:21 pm »
Hi There Community!

I have just updated to 3.2 and am having difficulties writing debug messages to the console.
Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

I am using the print(anything) block:
print(helloWorld) - helloWorld does not appear in the new Log Viewer.

I have the green show debug events toggle active.

Thanks for you help.

Ok thanks.

Thanks CaptainComic!
Any news on a 3.2 release date? Just not quite ready to purchase a licence.

Any fixes found for this?

Rimrook, I definately feel where you are coming from!
Its really good to have 3d experience in your arsenal. I am excited to bring some 3d look and feel into my games.
Have you created many games with stencyl? or just working through learning the program and its features?
Thanks for the offer to help me learn, I hope i can repay a favour.

Awesome Tuo!
Thanks for the time. I will check the above out and let you know how it goes.

Hi there community!
I have looked in previous posts / help sections and cannot work out how to do something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a setup that will slide a square around a 'grid' like scene. Similar to this;
If mouse is pressed on actor, and mouse then moves > mouse x + actor width, then move self x + width of self.

I have the movements working fine however i want to prevent an actor moving if it will move on top of another actor. Think of a pipe tile moving type of puzzle game.

Anyone with Gamemaker Language experience would know this as if place_meeting or place_free.

I understand the community is here to teach not do peoples coding for them, but if you have any direction that would be great

Yeah, slow and steady. I am going to create a few simple games before taking the plunge with a few of my rather ambitious ideas.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hi everyone,
I am new here and am currently working through Innes Borkwoods - LEARNING STENCYL 3.X GAME DEVELOPMENT.

I can't help but write this post. About 12 months ago I decided to start learning 2D game development. I come from a 3D animation background and could not see myself going through the whole "learn to program" phase. I am much more of a creative person over technical. I started with gamesalad as i felt that it was an easy and quick way to get into mobile game development. I created a game and published it to the Apple App store. Learning a lot of things along the way I decided to move on from game salad and try other programs as i felt game salad was much to limited for what my imagination had in mind.

I then found Gamemaker Studio. The community over there seemed great, and it is. I started to learn GML game makers internal programming language. I created some new games (none published) and again found that this program was not fulfilling my requirements, the iOS exporting is ridiculously hard to even get setup and is full of bugs and program updates always broke previous games.

Now, finally after moving on again I have found Stencyl. After going through Innes's book (Non stop for about 6 hours). I have been browsing your community for a week or so and I have to say I am really impressed with both the program itself and the communities involvement with each others games.

Simple things like testing on devices with the click of a single button, the ability to share custom behaviours with other community and the interface of the program are simply amazing.

I look forward to spending more time with Stencyl and this community and hope to bring a polished game to the app stores in the future.

Thanks for reading my rant!
Talk soon.

Hi everybody!
I'm Isaac. Just thought i'd say g'day (Yes i'm Australian!).
I have a background in 3d animation so I hope I can add a nice twist into my 2d assets using my past experience.
I am about to embark on the journey that is "Learning Stencyl 3.x Game Development" - By Innes Borkwood.
Stay tuned. I intend to be an active member in the community.
