The other thing to watch out for and will be annoying to deal with is the fact that it eats up screen space this way, so a 800 x 480 screen no longer is that resolution. This will throw off games that would otherwise have fit perfectly in that using 1.5x graphics.
Exactly.

Changing "uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion=" to 14 inside of the AndroidManifest.xml could remove the onscreen menu button on 4.0 devices. Of course then the game would only run on Android 4.0 and above.

I think a dedicated option to build games for the Android 4.0 / 3.0 platform would be nice.
The main reason is that most of the Android 4.0 devices do not have a hardware menu button and then simulate a software menu button on the screen.

It seems that you have the same problem i had. The source of the problem is Java 7.
