I'd have to drive 8 hours to be in the path of totality, which is not too bad, but the drive back home though... and then there's my Hurley-like luck which would just bring massive clouds and probably a meteor strike at my location, so...

Hello Squeeb did you make any progress on this? I just started working on this as well for one of my new games.

Dialogue delivery can be surprisingly tricky. I've saved text as a png in Photoshop, then called the png text as needed in Stencyl. This is super easy to code and worked very well for my old game, but is not flexible in terms of delivery.

I'm working out a new system for a new game, Hidden Scrolls Skyward, which will deliver text in a more traditional letter-by-letter method, and perhaps have an "Animalese" a la Animal Crossing or Zelda series.

I'm thinking about posting a YouTube video on the topic as well for discussion/ideas/knowledge sharing.

@Irock Your dialogue system and game look awesome! Is this a customization of the available Dialogue Extension?

I really enjoy making games as a hobby, so trying to become wealthy off of it would kinda take away the fun for me.

Yeah, it would be really cool to get featured for a few days on the app store, or catch a wave of enthusiasm or trend. The money from such an event would be an awesome bonus - but would probably not, in itself, make someone wealthy. Of course, a motivated developer could build on such a success, gain an audience, and pump out lots of games like, "Five Nights at Freddie's".

We are creators, so it's okay to dream. If becoming wealthy from your creations is a goal, then educate yourself on the business aspects, find a mentor, and surround yourself with supportive people who can help you make that happen... then come back and share exactly how you did it!

I've posted some video tutorials on YouTube for those new to Stencyl. There are currently 28 videos with more to come.

The videos will walk you through completing a breakout style game - gotta start somewhere . The videos are concise and best watched at 1.25x speed. I will also go through file organization,  basic pixel art with Pyxel Edit, parallax scrolling and have links to zip file resources as well!
