Ask a Question / Re: Frequency of a Sine Wave
« on: January 31, 2012, 01:33:13 pm »
Thanks for the reply, but please forgive my ignorance (it is a long time since I have dealt with this kind of maths).

I have the following behaviour attached to an actor (see attached) which moves it in an upwards sine wave motion. How do I add a variable that I can increase / decrease that will increase / decrease the frequency of the wave as it moves.

Thanks again to anybody who takes the time to help.

Ask a Question / Frequency of a Sine Wave

Hi all.

I'am trying to get my actor to move in a sine wave motion, which I have done, but I can't seem to find a way to alter the frequency of the wave. If I have calculated a sine wave motion how do I alter the frequency at which the wave/actor moves?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Same as above for me too. It says I have the latest version when I check for updates but I don't have any of the new transitions or the Mochi blocks. I have also tried uninstalling and re downloading from the web site but with no success

Whole thing is looking pretty sweet though. Keep up the good work  :)

After having a bit of a difficult time with my main project I thought it would be best to distance myself from it and tackle something a bit smaller - Zombie Baseball is the result of this little hiatus. It's a score based game where you hit baseballs at zombies.

It's done in a NES style and I even mocked up some box art. :)

A quick guess is that it may have something to do with the fact that it's in the "When Drawing" wrapper (I think this is just for drawing). You could try moving the "Do Every" bit to "When Created".

Ask a Question / IStencyl release?
« on: September 23, 2011, 07:19:46 am »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody out there had any idea of a rough time frame in which we can expect Istencyl to be released? I'am currenty trying to decide which avenue to go down with regards to Iphone game creation and a possible release date would be very handy. I'm not looking for anything too specific but was just wondering if the team had a rough idea i.e weeks or months?

Thanks

Paid Work / Musician Wanted.

Hi everybody, thanks for taking the time to read the post.

As you can probably gather from the title I'am looking for some one to provide music (and hopefully sound effects) for a game I'am making.  The game is a Side Scrolling beat-em-up featuring weapons - think Double Dragon but with a shotgun, and built in the style of an old NES game so I was hoping to get SFX and music to match.

I'am hoping to submit the game in some form to the GameJolt.com music game competition by the deadline of the 24th of September and am running out of time to get everything done. I really think the game would benefit from a good tune or two and a few SFX here and there so if anybody is interested please let me know. The game is based on the song Ghost Town by The Specials (as per theme of the comp) so if anybody has heard the song it would be a plus  :)

Here are a few examples of the things I was looking for ideally all in a NES / SFXR / chiptune style.

-Intro tune
-Background tune
-Boss tune
-Shotgun SFX
-Guy getting hit SFX
-Smashing SFX
-Bike Reving SFX
-Punching SFX

If anybody is interested please let me know and I can provide more details. Any contributions used would obviously get a credit in game. Thanks for reading  :)

This is my second game made with Stencyl and was made for the August 2011 Experimental Gameplay Project.

== Mini Post-mortem ==

This is the first time I have attempted to make a game with Stencyl inside any time frame and the game was pretty much made from scratch over the course of a weekend and them polished (menu, etc) for an hour or so this evening. I tried to stay away from Forge behaviours but in the end I did end up using a Move to Point behaviour for the enemy movement.

Over all I was very impressed with Stencyl and how easy it is to use even when compared to my usual tool, Game Maker. The development environment occasionally felt a bit slow for speedy development and the constant 90% memory warnings were a bit of a worry but in the end the positives FAR out weighed the negatives. The speed at which I was able to throw together the graphics and a few behaviours to get a rudimentary game going was particularly impressive.

Hope you enjoy the game!!

Hi Rob, thanks for the comment. :)

The whole thing took me around 15hrs to complete spread over a week or two. The main objective was to finish with a better understanding of how Stencyl works and I definitely feel a lot more confident with it than I did when I started and the fact that I got a game out of it was a little bit of a bonus.

As for the highscores, it was definitely something I intended to add but I messed around with the game and the Stencylpedia tutorial for a while and for some reason couldn't get it to work. Still not sure what I was doing wrong but might have another go at some point as I think the game would really benefit from having a high score table.

Last Man Standing is a game I made to try and teach myself how to use Stencyl.

Use the mouse to destroy as many of the on coming alien robots as you can before they over run your position.
