Great work on the demos you've been putting out! I've been learning quite a few things from it  :)

in the scene, select the ball and go to the inspector panel. You will be able to select the paddle(the paddle should be in the scene)

News / Re: StencylWorks 2.0 Beta (Updated Mar 1st)

This happened to me also. What you need to do is copy the behaviors folder from the extracted Stencyl beta and put it into your work folder(the one in stencyls preferences). I'm not on my mac at the moment but I think that's what I did to fix it.

Paid Work / Re: Seeking Artist for my Next Game

Heya rob, I'm interested in collaborating with you. I don't have any pixel art portfolio to show you so I did a sprite for the main character. This would be the facing and block creation animations.

Let me know if you are interested. You can get in touch with me at

Archives / Re: Trim white space in images in atlas
« on: February 16, 2012, 12:20:27 am »
I haven't touched atlases yet but isn't what is happening normal for ios? Atlases/textures go by the power of 2 sizes(32,64,128,256 etc etc). So lets say you have an image thats 24x56, it would use the biggest atlas that would fit which would be 32x64. Even if you exceed a single pixel it would still use the next biggest one. So a 129x130 size image would use a 256x256 sized atlas, it wont shrink your image down to the "nearest" size. At least that what looks like is happening in the image.

Archives / Re: Colored tabs

Although an icon would look cool I feel that it might clutter the readability of the tab and reduce the number of characters displayed. Where as if the tabs are colored the visual feedback is a lot faster at a glance without sacrificing the text displayed on the tab. Either way anything would be an improvement :)

Archives / Colored tabs
« on: February 15, 2012, 08:15:02 pm »
Hi, I'd like to make a small suggestion concerning the UI. Could you have different colored tabs up top? When I have multiple tabs open it starts to become hard to tell which one is an actor, behavior or what-not. Whats happening is that I am starting to prefix the names of behaviors with a B, like "B rocket turn" to differentiate actors from behaviors. You could have all actors be green tabs, behaviors red tabs etc. Just a little something to help keep things organized.

Thanks!

Hi everyone! I'm new to stencyl(although I've used gamesalad) and I've ran into some learning troubles. I'm trying to make a simple up/down movement of the player as a learning experience so I'm trying not to look into the forge. The problem is the player doesn't stop when I release the button. I'm thinking it might have to do with the button states?

Can someone please explain the difference between "is down" , "was pressed" and "was released"? shouldn't it only be on/off? I've searched the forums and stencylpedia but couldn't find anything.

Thanks!
