okay i did that, and it seemed to be an issue with the actual actor i was using as a conveyer belt.  i took off all the behaviors, but its presence still caused the game to crash.  i put the conveyer belt code on a different actor and it seemed to work fine.

So I'm making a game where the player is on an assembly line conveyer belt for most of it, and then i wanted to have obstacles such as crushers.  So i have the code working for both behaviors individually, but for some strange reason when the crusher is in the same scene as the conveyer belt actor when the player is crushed it crashes the game, but the conveyer belt works fine.  the crusher does not touch the conveyer belt, and the behaviors have no elements that are similar, so i have no idea why this isn't working.  any ideas?

okay i made the changes to the script, but i'm still having the problem that every time my player goes under the crusher and it hits them, the flash debugger freezes and stops working.  do you think it would just be better to scrap work on this game, i've not almost nothing so far, and start working a new game file.  or is there something else going on here?

So i'm making a game where i'd like pistons or actors to come down from the top of the screen to crush the player if they are under it.

frankly i have no idea where to start with this. I thought i could cheat and make a rectangular actor and apply a vertical platform movement to it, and just put some code on the player that would say it would die if it got hit on its head, but this doesn't work.  it simply freezes the flash tester so i have to force quit it.

I feel like i'm just being stupid and not thinking about this right, but does anyone know how to do this?

solved my problem! i had the code wrong, but i am going to have multiple game attributes for each scene i put the sick person in, and a different sick person for each attribute.

my friend suggested i just get rid of multiple scenes, in favor of just one big one where doors teleport you to different sections.  do you think this is worth doing?  i think would fix the problem i'm having, but then it would also mean scrapping all the work i've done so far and starting again.

so in my game i want it so that when you go over the actor and enter in a command it changes right now its animation (but if a new actor would be better its fine) and then this gives you a point, and then if you have enough points you can move on to the next level in a different scene.  But right now if you leave and then come back to a scene the actor is reset and you get get more points without actually finding all the 'sick' actors.  Is there a way i can permanently lock the the actor from reseting after you've interacted with it, even after you leave and re-enter a scene?

nevermind, i fixed the problem by just making a duplicate of the first scene that you entered when you go back instead of the actual first scene

Ask a Question / Multiple actors?
« on: March 08, 2012, 06:19:26 am »
okay i have this behavior to transition scenes if an actor is in a region and presses a control, and this works great, but the problem i'm having is when you go back to the first scene i have two players, one that is there originally, and the one created when coming back.  i use a code to place the actor there originally, because that seemed to be the only way to get my scene tradition code to work. and i tried to make it so that if another player already was on the scene to not create a new one, but it didn't' work.  So basically what code do i have to put in for it to sense that another actor is in the scene?
