Game Art / Re: What programs do yall use to make yalls art?

I'm on a mac and I use Photoshop.

For pure pixel stuff I am also using Aseprite. Its great. Am very impressed with it and also has onion skinning for animation. Has lots of palette control as well. Good drawing tools. Only for Pixel art though.

Also like Pixen 2 as well.

Find anybody to work with? Depending on the size/scope of the project I could look at taking somethings on.

Hey thanks,

Yeah, I'm really excited about Stencyl and being able to make my own games, as well as provide art for others now I'm freelance. Cheers !

Hey there,

I'm an artist and need a few projects to work on since my time has freed up a bit lately. I'll do piecemeal work per object or per project. Have over 10 yrs industry experience in games industry. Prefer paid work over rev share.

I really like doing pixel/sprites. Isometric artwork is also fun. Want more practice at doing tilesets and the like.

Critique:

• I like the more saturated blue sky in the second screen.
• Try putting a stroke around the houses so they don't get so lost in foreground/background elements, or use a contrasting colour or value.
• More than one house type would be great.
• Put some clouds in the sky.
• Put some other mountains more faded out behind your mountain to add more depth to the scene.
• Make the slingshot RED or something to make it pop. Its your main focal design point and should draw the players eye to it. Right now it blends in with everything else.
• The houses in the distance should fade out, make a version of the sprite that is tinted slightly, don't use grey, use a blueish or purple ish gray.
• The sand dunes in the distance could also be tinted as well, like in 3D games, depth fog helps add a sense of depth to a scene.
• The brown on the second screen shot is very dark, Its hard to tell if there is any texture on it or if its supposed to be mud, dark wood.

Hope that helps. :)

Ahhh, okay. Well I suppose thats a decent work around, in the future it would be nice to have concave as an option though!

Thanks!

Hi there,

I'm fairly new to Stencyl, and I've noticed that you can generate a box/ellipse or a convex collision box for an object. For the game I'd like to create I'd like to have a concave collision. Like creating a ramp.

Is there a way to do this? would code need to be written for it to actually be implemented?

Thanks!

Hey thx for responding so quik!

I'll check these out! Yeah particle system would be a great addition. especially particle collisions ;) I like that Stencyl exports to flash and soon to be Android as well.
