Fixed on my own.
Thank you.

All I did was add a frame to the animation, and then delete the first frame. Would that cause a problem?

The player is bouncing around and sometimes going through tiles.
I don't know why.
I can upload the game to if you like.

Yes I am 10 years old. BUT DON'T TELL ME HOW TO PROGRAM! I know C++, python, C, C#,, GML, Pascal, java, freeBasic, JustBasic, LibertyBasic, QuickBasic (I know a lot of basics).

I actually don't know AS3, and don't tell me AS3 isn't hard, it is.
And I use game maker for game development so I am used to 2-3 click games (well practically).

Anyways I was editing a pre-built example so it SHOULD work.

all I did was change the sprites of the actors.

Ask a Question / Why does my physics game not work?

Alright, I want to make a physics game.
This is my first game in StencylWorks.
So naturally I opened up the physics game example.
I started off by changing all the sprites to something I wanted.
Then I test ran the game, and IT DIDN'T WORK! It was the glitchiest game I ever beheld.
The thing is, everything was the same. The sprite height, the sprite width, the bounding box's, everything. So if stencyl works is this hard to use. Then I won't use it.
PS. You may remember me from a month ago, I had stopped using stencyl cause it was so dang hard to use, I am trying it but if it still is hard to use then I will hate it for the rest of my life.

Ask a Question / Colliding with an actor
« on: June 17, 2011, 04:56:12 pm »
Okay. This is basic but I can't seem to get it.
I want the player to die when it hits an enemy, so I can't use the event when collides with actor because that executes for all actors, I just want the enemy actor.
How do I do this?

I was under the impression that java was more portable. I believe its more powerful, just less popular.
Last I knew flash isn't supported on smart phones.

Code mode is for defining behaviors.
What I want is a button that will show the code for all the actors, all the behaviors, all the scenes ETC.

So what is the best FREE art package?
And/or music package around?
Just wondering.

Archives / Low-level edit

I don't know if this has been suggested but there should be a low-level mode.
Like where you can see all the object classes and such in pure AS3 and make changes as needed. Why? The behaviors, though very nice for beginners, are very slow for making games. I would rather press a button, have the code appear in front of me, and make changes and stuff as I see fit. This would give advanced users more control over the game. Yes I know that you can do most anything with code mode or design mode and behaviors I just think that that is really slow and inefficient when trying to make a game.

More specifically MN. USA. USA PWNS EVERY OTHER COUNTRY! WHY? Because were sinking into debt and losing jobs like crazy! And we got a leader who never took economics and plunged us bilions more into debt! I love making fun of my country!

Ok I should have read the rules for posting first but these questions are all related so I think it is okay.

Thank you for your replies. I am glad its got flixel built in because otherwise I might have gone berserk (but I would probably use stenyl anyways).
Well I am glad I can use code a bit. I would like to see better code integration.

Resolved Questions / [SOLVED]A few newb questions

I just started using stencyl and I have a few questions:
1.) Is there a way to bypass making behaviours, like when you create an actor it just pops up with a code box (after you have given it a sprite of course). I find that making behaviors is very inefficient and slow.
2.) Is there like an advanced mode so that I can skip the drag and drop for making behaviors.
3.) Does stencyl have box2D built in?
4.) Can I use random flash libraries? (flashpunk, flixel ETC.).
