Nice Mdot, I remember testing with you a few years ago the udp extension, congrats for the perseverance! :)
As always I would like to test it: A real time multiplayer game is something I always wanted to do.
So I'm definetly interested.
Let me know what I need to do (I don't have linux skills tho, but I can definetly make a simple game to test it out).

Ask a Question / Re: Draw Order by Depth
« on: April 19, 2020, 02:06:18 pm »
I think you need to use the z order block in a drawing event in order for It to work.
Try to put z order to y of self for each actor in a drawing event and see if that works.

Ask a Question / Re: Android Target Version?
« on: November 03, 2019, 01:03:35 am »

On Stencyl you need to go under Tools > Android > Launch device monitor.

When you are in the device monitor go under Window > Android SDK manager.

In the Android SDK manager you can install the sdk version that you need, for example Android 9 is labeled as "Android 9 (API28)".
Just select it and press "Install packages" at the bottom.

Hope it helps. :)

Hi there,

My advice is to open a topic in the issue tracker (link at the top of the forum) regardind this issue, so Justin can take a look at it.
Or, since you're both paying customer, post it in the private Help Desk section of the forum to have a faster support.

Hope this helps,

Hi Robin,

I can't get the unity extension work (see attchment, log and screenshots).
The byrobin manager is enable and also the unity extension.
I just put the initialize blocks as you can see in the screenshots... If I remove them the game runs fine.
I'm trying to test it on android, I'm using Stencyl 4 build 10331.
Can you help me out?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Well, it's a good start!  :D
Why not just let the player tap anywhere on the screen to turn the character instead of a button?
One easy thing to improve the overall "juicyness" is to use the "grow" block while turning the character instead of switching the animation.
Try to stay with the main animation on the right and when you need to turn the character to the left use the "grow" block and don't change the animation, something like:
"Grow actor to -100 w 100 h in 0.25 sec normal in/out".
And you can do the same when you need to turn right, just use use 100 instead of -100 w:
"Grow actor to 100 w 100 h in 0.25 sec normal in/out"
The overall effect is paper mario style.
By the way just implementing the audio will improve the game a lot!
You can use bfxr to make simple sound effects.
keep up the good work!

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Re: List of Stencyl Ludum Dare 43 Games
« on: December 12, 2018, 08:27:16 pm »
Hi greg, how's it going? :)

While the inspiration is definitely there, I think the two games are basically different.
Yes, you can shoot monkeys but you can't move them as in your game (they are not clones).
You can jump on their dead bodies over the spikes, but is not the single mechanics: you can also shoot and squeeze them in order to make arrows that you can use later to shoot the banana (in order to move it, if unreachable) or to climb a wall like a ladder (gif).
The dead body mechanics over spikes is something that many user did with this theme and have done in the past, like Super Rude Bear Resurrection.
About the "monkey theme" I used this because I had some old assets that I created a while back for another contest (the pewdiepie's one), so I decided to start from there in order to save time.
Monkeys also were perfect to fit my idea of a videogame "documentary" with a voiceover.
That being said, I hope to had not caused any trouble. ;)

Windows / Mac / Flash / HTML5 / Nature is Harsh (Ludum Dare 43)
« on: December 05, 2018, 10:10:45 am »
Hi Guys! :)
Nature is Harsh is my entry for Ludum Dare 43, theme "Sacrifices must be made".
Ludum Dare is amazing as always, this is currently my fourth Ludum Dare game released!

Nature is Harsh
Play it here: Ludum Dare page

Welcome to "Nature is Harsh", the first video documentary that meets a (sadistic) videogame!

Control Mama Monkey and try to get the beloved Banana... see what she can do in order to get this precious fruit!

Sacrifice baby monkeys, throw them like arrows in the map and try to solve puzzles along the way.

Nature is Harsh, you will believe me!

- W,A,S,D to move and jump, R to reset.
- Hold "W" for higher jump.
- Mouse click to shoot monkeys.
- Jump on a monkey to create a monkey-arrow.
- You can jump on arrows like a ladder.

- Stencyl
- Audacity
- Bfxr
- NaturalReaders (for the voicover)
- Music by Playonloop

Hope you like it!  :)
