Game Ideas / First game: Cute Kingdom
« on: June 11, 2011, 10:16:30 pm »
I've been fiddling with Stencyl for awhile now and decided to settle down and build a game!

I'm still working a bit on the graphics ^^; The characters are my own, (http://cheshirepanda.deviantart.com/gallery/2318153#/d2fnmj4 )

I had actually lost all the information of the original game because my computer died, so techinically this would be ver. 2.0

I'll be adding in the Coin pickup system and a few other things (The language balloon was edited in for now) and I will be posting updates here and there :)

Thank you! :)
I would just upload a picture for that?

I took the crash course which was a big help.
 :o Wish I would've thought of that! Thank you!

I sure will!

Ask a Question / SW Code set-up help?
« on: June 02, 2011, 05:46:04 pm »
This is probably the most newbie question you'll ever get XD

I am determined to learn how to code a full game my own. I've been looking at the pre-coded games already in SW and I get the idea on how its supposed to work. I understand the flow and what most mean, but is there like a guide book of some sort to get a full idea of what I'm looking at? Or is this sort of a learn by error type thing? (Which I'm willing to do, but why suffer the headaches you know? Doesn't hurt to ask ;) )
Also another reason I ask this is that also when I started working on a game using the 'pre-mades' if I ever move anything it stops working. Its probably just something simple that I messed up, but I would like to know why (the error screen shows nothing wrong)

Thanks!

Chit-Chat / Re: Introduce Yourself!
« on: June 02, 2011, 05:18:48 pm »
hello everyone!
I usually just go by Chesh
I've been wanting to make games since I knew you could lol.  I made a couple 'dreams' in Furcadia, then later I dabbled with Flash for a little bit, but schooling got in the way of learning to code. I was directed here by BonBonBunny, and am simply inlove with your program! I do art and some Pixelart (A lot of people say I'm good but I'm not as amazing as how I want to be!)

Oh this is such a cute game!! I'm super new to this so sorry if I'm not much help ^^;;;

I think how you've done Eevee is just fine, it works well with the items you've done so far (like the brush/towel) Can't wait to see more!

Use PNG or JPEG when attaching images, please.
Sorry! I just used paint to save it since my Photoshop takes too long to open ^^;;;
If the second level scene exists, you can try save and closing the game. Reopen and retry the test game or scene.
I tried that today...its still an issue. But when I completely delete the Scene switcher it works, but can't get to it from the first level ;)
I think I'd need to see your game to troubleshoot this further.  I'm not seeing anything obviously wrong with that setup.  If you can please upload your game to StencylForge, I can take a look.
Oh ok. I'll do that.

Oh ok.
Not sure how to copy it, so I'll just type out the error

So I'm guessing its Switch Scenes fault lol.

One, I hope this is the right place to put this,
Secondly, you are GODS for making this program!!

ANYWAY- I started making a game using the simple jump and run setup. I downloaded the Switch Scene behavior, and used the first level pre-made and linked it to a 2nd level I set up. When I play through and get to the 2nd level, the 2nd level is super laggy. I deactivated it and tried just playing the 2nd level, and it does the same. I made sure everything is exactly like the 1st level, and still nothing. I am super new with this...so sorry for the newbie-ness

thank you!
