Ask a Question / SIM CARD DATA
« on: December 22, 2014, 01:39:31 pm »
Hi all,

A bit of a "pro" question maybe for a moderate user....

I need to get the mobile number from the SIM card for an app of ours. Enabling certain SIM numbers would be a great security feature. We can handle the encryption on the "authorized SIM numbers list" side....

I need some help on how I can get a value for the Telephone number from the SIM card (on android) into Stencyl. I.e.:
- Enabling permissions...
- Using TelephonyManager...

If anyone has any experience and could be off some help, it would be highly appreciated it. This is for a medical applicaiton.

Further, the same with iOS is also preferred but not essential.

Best.

Ask a Question / Question About Collisions
« on: August 22, 2014, 09:51:24 am »
Hi all,

So many games require bullets... and as we all know that generating hundreds of little actors can slow down your game.

So my question is this... Is it better to have the main character to "listen" out for collisions with bullets or to give bullets a collision behaviour, or does it not make a difference?

I believe its best to keep the bullet behaviour as simple as possible...?

Ask a Question / Re: Set font size?
« on: August 09, 2014, 01:22:07 am »
Create an actor with a label... make the height of the actor the same as the height of your default Font... then rescale the actor with "grow"...

You can even do something like:

- IF width of "text" using "font" is greater then screen width
- Then grow to (100x screen width / width of "text" using "font") over 0 seconds

As long as you reposition the actor correctly... you have a text that will always fit in the screen width...

Ask a Question / Problem with Joystick :s
« on: April 18, 2014, 05:41:32 am »
Hi all,

I am very late in a game, although I recently made the switch to 3.0.

I am having problems with the simple joystick controller:
- I have tried different scaling methods and each time the joystick appears to work in a "shrunk" top left section of the screen (when used on my android phone).
- It is as if the joystick is working in a unscaled version of the game even though the graphics are scaled.
- I know this because if I make the joystick appear where touched I can even see the distance between my finger and the joystick increase as I go to the right of the screen.

Im I missing something really simple? is joystick and scaled androids a simple problem? or is something messed up with the joystick library following 2.0->3.0 updated???

Ask a Question / Debugging - Attribute tracking
« on: April 15, 2014, 10:46:44 am »
Hi all,

When debugging a game how can you trace the attribute number. I have seen a few errors as below.... is the attribute(XXX) a reference to some kind of attribute number and is there anyway I can find which attribute that is?

[Flash] com.stencyl.behavior.BehaviorManager#getAttribute(XXX): Warning: Behavior does not exist - Behavior name

Ask a Question / Actor will not change "Group"
« on: January 09, 2014, 01:31:12 pm »
Hi all,

I have created two new groups to classify different types of "bad guys". However the actor will not change group after I select a new group for the actor from collisions.

- When I select the correct group from collisions the name on the drop down is correct.
- As a tester I have gotten the Actors to text-draw their Group names and they appear still be in the default "Actors" group.
- I have of coursed refreshed etc...

Please help.

Best
