Paid Work / Simple Quiz APP

I was wondering if any of you clever clogs would be interested in a little job.

I would like to make a short personality quiz that I could share on smartphones. There would be 6 levels, each based on a personality type (similar to Myers-Briggs). Each of the 6 levels will consist of 10 multiple choice questions (A or B).

At the end of each level, depending on the score, the player would be presented with a screen that details their personality type.
(For example: Are they Introvert or Extrovert?)

There would need to be an option to email their name and results to a forwarding address if they wanted to receive a more in depth analysis.

No graphics are needed, just a working quiz-style template that I can customize and add the questions in later.

Should be quite a simple job for anyone with a bit of know-how. Payment would be made by Paypal.

Ask a Question / Remove Splash screen on version 2.1?

Hi everyone!

I've a little problem and would be eternally grateful for any suggestions.

My game still features the splash screen when I publish, though the loading screen settings say, "Thanks for subscribing, no splash screen will appear".

I'm using version 2.1.0. if that's any help.

Is there any way around this, or is it just a drawback of using an antiquated version?


I'm hoping to finish this tutorial very soon (at latest by the end of the month)

My country doesnt have tax treaty with USA, so FGL withhold 30% + 10% FGL commision.

If your country does not have a treaty with the U.S then I think the 30% withholding is mandatory.

Check to see if your country is on this list and, if so, speak to one of the agents.

How'd you like it thus far? Any suggestions/comments? Did you use normal zoom or 100% zoom?

Personally I haven't really used the zoom feature but that's only because I'm vaguely familiar with Stencyl, so if  the "Set X-Speed to 0 for Self" block is mentioned, for example, then I kinda already know where it is (sometimes), but I imagine it would be a great help to n00beroonies.

There isn't really anything I feel I can criticize - everything is clearly laid out and easy to understand and I feel like some of it is  actually sinking into my thick head.

It's also a nice way to spend a Saturday morning.  :P

I'll keep updating it as I go. If anyone wants the actual .SWF file, let me know.

Hey man! I'd love the whole swf file once it's all done.

When I tried working through the last file it stops on page 22, just when my bran was clicking into gear!   :P

I love your tutorials! I didn't realize that you were "Abigayl", but those 2.0 tutorials were fantastic at helping a knuckle-head like me piece together my first game.  :P

I haven't been on these forums for a couple of months because I've been finishing off a cartoon but you shouldn't be put off making more tutorials, you've got a skill for explaining complicated stuff in a clear and understandable way - even I understood the trigonometry in lesson  4 and I'm dumb as a brick!

In fact, why not upload these new tutorials to Newgrounds and get a buzz going for Stencyl 3.0?

I'm gonna go through your new tutorial straight after my morning  bowl of Frosted Lucky Charms!

Add the camera position to your mouse coordinates when moving your player to the mouse because the mouse coordiates are relative to the screen and not the scene.  You could also try the "Follow the Mouse" behavior from the library.

HA! Nice one Rob, once again your wisdom has made sense of an otherwise baffling world!

I downloaded the "Mouse Follow" behavior and added in the "+ X of Camera" and "+Y of Camera" blocks and everything seems to be working!

I've attached the solution in case somebody from the future has the same problem.

As long as the player has the camera set to follow itself, no matter where the actor goes (even if following the mouse) it should follow unless its moved too close to the scene's bounds (and thus the camera is unable to scroll any farther.) Does the camera stop scrolling before the end of the scene?

Yes, the camera seems to reach and invisible dead end.   :'(

Hey Stencyl-Heads!

I'm working on a new game and everything is going brilliantly! The one caveat I have is that I would love to have my Player controlled by the mouse but whenever I attempt this the camera stops scrolling after a certain distance.

When I remove the "Set Camera to Self" (attached to Player) code everything seems okay, but I'm then limited to the screen size and no manner of playing around with the screen bounds seems to help.

I've attached a little mock-up which might better explain what I mean below.

The Player is currently controlled by the keyboard and everything works great, but I've love to know if there is a way of making the Player follow the mouse and have the camera follow it around the game area.

Is this possible , or am I just one of life's foolish dreamers?  :P

The problem might be that every time you re-set the opacity to 100% the original timer event is still trying to set it to 0%.

Maybe set the first timer event to match the second ie; set both to "do every .5 seconds".

You haven't read the Stecylpedia, and that is very naughty  :-X

You could set the collisions in the tile editor so that the building has no collisions. I think.

However, there is one major flaw in this theory: why would the developer take the game down if they were making money?? Even if you are delusional, having an addictive game means more money, and having more press means more money, so this makes absolutely no sense. Is he complaining that his game is too good?? This leads me to believe that this whole thing is rather fishy and is in-fact a PR stunt, which is a good move on his part because having pretend principles is very marketable, and in business school we were taught if people think you're human you make more money.
