Yeah it's very odd. I installed the new language files and still had the same problem but as I said, not a problem when booting from within the folder.? Well I got it work now anyway so I happy for now but I do hope there is a permanent fix for the future.

Hey, just in case anyone else stumbles across this thread, having this problem the quick fix I got to work was simply opening Stencyl from with the actual Stencyl folder inside my programs. Using the short cut seems to cause problems?? Weird  :-\

Hi. I have recently been running into problems with Stencyl where whenever I start the program, all the heading as missing. Here is a screen grab of what I am talking about -> http://i.imgur.com/dDSyD.png

I am using the latest version. I have deleted and re-installed Stencyl about 10 times now and keep running into the same problem after I started the program maybe 3 or more times.

It works fine on the first couple of loads but then this all the time!

Any ideas? ???

Thanks in advance

Ask a Question / Re: Noob question 1.0.4

Ah really. That's annoying. What I am trying to do is create a dirt track with grass borders. the top edge is easy but I want to duplicate it for the bottom edge but just rotated. I could probably edit the tile in Pencyl and use it that way.

Being able to rotate a tile would be handy...  ;D

I cannot rotate tiles....

I can highlite my tile, hover over the corner and get the little rotate icon, but I cannot get the tile to rotate? Cannot drag, move with arrow keys, etc.

What am I doing wrong?  ::)

Hi. So I am wanting to make a game where say for example there two actors. Actor A and Actor B. I want create a cod where an actor attaches to the mouse when it hovers it and also stack with the same actor again when hovered over it. the actor would die when collided with the other actor.

Any help anyone? Thankyou in advance  :)

No not mandotory but more of an option for Dev. [] Check this box if you wish to make coding public on Stencyl. That sort of thing.

Anyway, this my game but it isn't working correctly at the moment  :'(

Brilliant! The responses on this forum are top class.

I never knew the Kong API had that feature, I assumed it was just for high scores and Kong badge implementation. Great stuff.

That clears up a lot of things. I think I will upload the game I am working on so I can get some more detailed help.

I hope my suggestion for being able to access other games coding is considered. It would help a lot of people.

Done it and it now works!! This great. Quick and helpful responses!

Ok. I am loving this tool. Stencyl may be single handidly changing flash gaming for good. Your imagintion is your limit if you know how to use Stencyl... I am still trying to master the last part.

I have a number of questions, ideas, etc. If I could get an answer or response (in the simplest terms possible) it would be greatly appreciated. 8)

Questions
1. How can I use a tile in a level but have it in the background and not interactive? i.e.  I want the cactus for example, to just be part of my background, letting me walk straight past it. I have tried placing them on lower layers but I still collide with them. Is this possible?

2. I am really struggling with the behaviour "cannot exit screen". I am working on a single level sandbox game but cannot get the scene behaviour to work. My actor still leave the screen and doesn't come back.

3. Is it possible to make enemies appear after a certain amout of time? I wan't the first enemy to appear after 30 seconds for example, the second after 1 minute and so on?

4. Achivemnets for my game! How and where?

5. Sometimes I will load up a demo game. I will see something I like and would like it for my game. It could be a behaviour or an actor for e.g. I take a note of the name, load up my game, search for it in the forge but it wont show!?

Ideas/Suggestions
1. We should be able to look at the guts of any uploaded Stencyl game. I wan't to be able to look at a the coding, behaviours, etc for some of the amazing games made through Stencyl. Not to steal ideas, to understand how to implement behaviours, etc, properly into ny own work.

2. I would love to be able to upload my game as a live demo to the site so I can show you what I mean when I have problem rather than just tell you. I know I can upload it as it is but I would like to have a private demo room for the mods to be able see games and give live help.

  Thanks In Advance!

« on: June 28, 2011, 12:14:10 pm »
Hi. I am making a balloon popping game as an expirement to get to grips with Stencyl.

Is itpossible to duplicate my first scene, so I can then works backwards i.e. start with my scene created and take away and replace actors and tiles as I see fit?

A noob questions but.. well I am a noob. Thanks in advance!  ;D

Chit-Chat / Re: How to get more visibility for Stencyl?

Teaming up with Kongregate was a massive thing. That's how I discovered Stencyl and it's just shot into my top 5 websites of all time. I absolutley love this site (well the application) and I am really excited about what I can make in the months to come, once I get fluent in stencylanguage!  ;)
